'09 TX K Anthony Fera (Penn State Verbal)
'09 TX K Anthony Fera
Kicker
Houston (TX) St. Pius X
Ht: 6-foot-2
Wt: 230 lbs
Forty: 4.8 secs
Bench max: 300 pounds
Class: 2009 (High School)
Rivals (free)
6/10
Quote:
Anthony Fera is ranked by Chris Sailer Kicking as a kicker and a punter. The strange thing is that he is a kicker in a linebacker's body. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound kicker has an explosive leg and also doubles as a linebacker.
Fera showed well at LSU's camp last weekend and will be visiting Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State in weeks to come.
"He's been verbally offered by Oregon," father Tony Fera said. "He's also been told that he will be offered by Michigan when he goes to their camp next week. He also really likes Ohio State and Penn State. LSU said they will be recruiting him very hard throughout the process."

From the OSU site...no offers yet but is drawing attention from Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, LSU and Oregon. Favors OSU and PSU. OSU has talked about a possible grayshirt offer, which he says is not ideal but he would be open to.

Had we not taken All-American Soldner as a preferred walk-on, I would have liked to have landed this kid. Looks like an outstanding kicker.
What's even worse is that he could end up at Michigan or OSU.

By JOSH HELMHOLDT • FREE PRESS SPECIAL WRITER • July 30, 2008
Michigan Rich Rodriguez tapped former Michigan kicker Brandon Kornblue to run his first kicking camp in June. The two-day event attracted some of the top talent from across the country, and from Michigan’s standpoint was an opportunity to evaluate prospects for a potential scholarship offer. With the current roster of kickers getting along in eligibility, at least one kicking prospect is expected to be offered in the 2009 class.
Following Michigan’s camp, two names emerged at the top of the list for the kicker scholarship. Houston (Texas) St. Pius X’s Anthony Fera (6-2, 230 pounds) actually came in during Michigan’s regular camp week to kick for Michigan coaches because his family was going on vacation during the kicking camp. His booming leg and overall athleticism made an impression on Rodriguez and his staff.

Rivals is showing an offer from PSU...anyone know if that is accurate? I would think that's where he ends up if true...

Have NO PROBLEM with this offer if it happened. Kid has a strong leg and PSU hasn't been a factor with FGs over 40 yards or more the last several years it seems.

100% agree. And he sounds like he has that Philly attitude. Can't be a bad thing...and with Marks opening up a scholly, I think this is a no-brainer with Kelly leaving after this season.

Penn State and Kansas State have offered...UM has offered and OSU has offered a greyshirt. His dad says there is a good chance he will end up at PSU.
