By M Alkire. Penn State, West Virginia and Tennessee have offered. He talks about the fact that Penn State was the first camp he went to, and says the coaches have invited him for a personal visit. He has no favorites.

Scout.com: Another Offer for Fortt

I don't know if this is just a coincidence, but there was another recruit who took an unofficial visit to UVA recently and when he got home his offer from PSU was waiting for him just like it was with Fortt.
I suspect the coaches intentionally time the mailing of offers so kids will quickly forget about their last visit. I recall the same thing happened when Josh Marks took a visit to Pitt.
The games they play in recruiting are really entertaining.

Scout.com: An Educated Approach
Quote:
3/18 - FREE - By Allen Wallace (SuperPrep)
Khairi Fortt, the 6-foot-2.5, 220-pound four-star outside linebacker from Stamford, Conn., has around 20 total scholarship offers and says that every day he’s focusing on a different school.
“I’m looking at all of them right now,” Fortt said. “Every day I go through the stuff they send me and do some research on the schools. I’m keeping a list of some stats and stuff and my parents and I plan on narrowing it down to 10 in May.
“College is for the next four years and 40 years so I have to make sure I make the right decision,” he said.

Sounds like Fortt is going to be on campus three times in the next five weeks.
I'm sure he's more interested in one of those "big name" schools, though.

a bit more from that 4/1 rivals article:
Quote:
"This past weekend I went up to Connecticut, next weekend I'm going to Penn State
<snip>
Fortt went on about what he's looking for in a school.
"No. 1 is academic performance of African American players on the team," he said. "Then I'll look at alumni and job opportunities after football. I'm also looking at football and trying to look for a school that isn't full of competitors. I want somewhere I can play. I don't want them to have 11 linebackers in front of me. I'd like somewhere I can get along with the players."
|
I bet PSU has been pushing hard on the afro-american grad rates; depth chart could be a problem, but things will thin out with 4 leaving over the next 2 years.

Fortt had a quote in another article where he indicated the depth chart wouldn't be a problem at PSU, in a general way.
I'm feeling pretty good about him. It's funny, you lose out on Jelani Jenkins, and maybe the following year you get someone even better.

If the kid looks at things in the proper perspective, we could be losing three linebackers - Lee, Hull and Bowman if he declares. Depth chart greatly opens up.
