It is safe to say that his commitment to PSU is stronger than his commitment to OSU.
I can concur that the impact of his teammate (Willis) was a signifcant factor in his decision to switch. That teammate is also working on other MD recruits.
I'd imagine Givens stays with PSU barring a major disaster.

Agreed his commitment to PSU seems much stronger than his commitment to OSU was. Miami is a school that I would expect to continue to recruit him heavily. It is my understanding that the OSU staff, while disappointed that Givens flipped, has moved on to other targets at CB.

Big Weekend: Penn State +2, Ohio State -1 - Josh Barr's Recruiting Insider
Quote:
As for Givens, it was only three weeks ago that he decided to accept a scholarship offer from Ohio State. However, it did not take long for Givens to consider other options. Lackey Coach Doug Lamb said that Givens contacted Penn State’s coaches around the first of the month to say he was interested and they made a trip to the Southern Maryland school last week.
“I could go into Penn State and make an impact as a freshman, earlier than I would be able to at Ohio State,” Givens said. “After I committed I started looking deeper and deeper into the situation I was putting myself into. Me playing as a freshman was very important.”
Lamb said he wished Givens had taken more time before changing his mind, worrying about the player “burning bridges” by making a decision and changing it so soon, particularly to a conference rival. Givens, though, said, “I didn’t want to decommit and put myself back on the market and have all these other schools coming at me and distracting me from my academics and qualifying.”
Givens said he previously had narrowed his choices to Ohio State and Penn State, with Miami (Fla.) a third option. While he said he now is certain of his decision to choose Penn State’s scholarship offer, Givens is aware that some people might think he could waffle again. Lamb hopes that doesn’t happen, but acknowledged, “This is a 17-year-old kid,” Lamb said. “He changed his mind in three weeks. The odds would be in that favor [of changing again]. I would hope he wouldn’t, but you never know.”

Givens is already recruiting for PSU. There is little chance he is going anywhere but PSU at this point.

It's interesting that it doesn't appear Willis had much to do with Givens' decision because PSU was already in his top two and he contacted the staff 3 weeks ago, or a week before Willis committed.
Of course, he and Willis could have been talking about it, but it looks like early playing time is the deciding factor.

I think he will be signing for Penn State on the dotted line.

Not worried about losing Givens. I was shocked that he verballed to OSU when he did and thought he wouldn't stick with it. It was only the matter of time before that emotional decision was rethought.

Q&A with Givens...talks about his upcoming senior season, his switch from PSU to OSU and trying to recruit others to PSU.

Word has it Givens wanted to come back on his commitment to Ohio State...not going to happen with limited spots left...he was told no thanks.

Absolutely no way to verify that (although grad's info is beyond typically beyond reproach) and frankly I find it a little hard to believe given the fact Givens has worked on numerous other recruits joining him at PSU...

Oh goody! Now we've got 7 months to see if there is any substance to this if he starts checking out other schools. I guess recruiting news was going to be boring with all the early commits, so this may liven things up.
It does sound implausible giving his recruiting efforts, but then again the quick commit and decommit with tOSU wasn't a great display of stability so it isn't so far fetched either.

Anyoner hearing anything about Givens looking around (not OSU)? Just curious as there are some rumors floating around on some other team sites right now...

Yes, and coupled with the Derrick Thomas situation, I'm not going to try and deflate the rumors.
I've also heard that Givens is 100% solid, and one has to remember that he is teammates with PSU commit Malcolm Willis who has been recruiting a lot of the MD kids.
Here's my guess...the fallout from the OTL piece blows away by the start of the season, these kids come up for their officials and stay with their verbals.
If we have any other "issues" or we have a poor season, then all sh!t could hit the fan.

I saw some guy on scout's Illini board say both Givens and Shrive are looking around. Considering he claims his sources are PSU insiders along with the vague "hey, look at me, I know something you don't know" nature of his posts, I think that guys is full of bs and I'll only believe it once I hear confirmation from a credible source like one of you guys.
