MD made a nice run, but this one was over when Rutgers came through with that offer...he basically begged them to do so.

He made a big impression on his visit a few weeks ago. Schiano thought he was a safety based on the tape, and there wasn't any room there. He showed a good ability to change direction, and that combined with Noel deciding to go on a package deal to BC with Fontaine sealed the deal.

Abdul Smith's [Perkiomen School (Pennsburg, PA)] recruitment blew up this spring with interest coming from everywhere, but at the end of the day, the Garden State native decided to stay home, and continue his education and football career at Rutgers University. In selecting Rutgers Football, Smith turned down offers from Boston College, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, and many others.

I was just speculating. It was baseless, I shouldn't have done that.
I don't think he'll end up at safety if only because there are already two others in the class. I was talking to some people about this, the staff has done a 180 and now sees him at CB.

Bah! Don't be so hard on yourself. It's a message board with plenty of speculation, and often grades do explain why a kid doesn't get an offer. The error was overlooking the offers from BC and PSU which indicated his grades were just fine -- they're more careful about grades than most schools.
Anyway, I was just clowning around and not busting on you (well, maybe a gentle ribbing). Smith is another great get for you guys -- that's a helluva class!

Didn't BC offer Reuben Johnson last year? Sometimes out of state schools don't have the best information about those things.
