Maryland On Trail of Roosevelt Speedster - Josh Barr's Recruiting Insider
Quote:
Eleanor Roosevelt junior Derrick Thomas holds a scholarship offer from Maryland, which is recruiting him to play cornerback, Raiders first-year coach Tom Green said. Thomas, who is 6 feet 1 and 180 pounds, plays wide receiver and cornerback for Roosevelt.
Maryland also is interested in Roosevelt’s Isaiah Ross, who at 6-2 and 240 pounds played nose tackle last season but will move to defensive end or outside linebacker this fall. “He’s been at Maryland a few times but they haven’t pulled the trigger yet,” Green said. Penn State also is recruiting Ross, while Rutgers is interested in cornerback Stephon Morris, Green said.
“They’ll have multilple offers by the summer,” Green said.

baltimoresun.com - Recruiting Report: Terps after multiple Roosevelt standouts
Quote:
The most heavily recruited Raider thus far has been Thomas, who claims offers from Maryland, Illinois, Penn State and Rutgers.
“His versatility -- I think the biggest thing with him is you can use him in so many places,” Green said. “Him being 6 foot and a half, that allows him to play safety or corner. He has very good [football instincts] and speed, so you could play him at receiver or in the slot. [Schools] know if they recruit him they can use him at any one of those positions.”

It's misleading b/c they say it's free. And what's free is to click in one link to the intro page for the video. To actually view the video...you need to be a subscriber.
They should really fix that.

Nothing to fix. I'm sure it's how they want it designed.

ESPN - Outside the lines changing minds? - MdVarsity.com
Quote:
"Me and my mother watched it. It didn't really have an affect on me because I know what I can do and what I'm going through, Eleanor Roosevelt's Derrick Thomas (pictured below) added. "It doesn't really change my mind at all. I still like Penn State and I'm still with it.
While that sentiment is shared by the other athletes, Thomas' mother did not agree.
"To see all that stuff happening there I really worry. At this point I don't really want him to go to that school. I know you can't run away because trouble is everywhere, but to see that they have a coach and a coaching staff that is not doing what they need to do to keep this stuff from happening it really worries me, Angela Thomas said. "I don't want my son to attend a school where there's no guidance. When he's away from me I want him to have a role model to keep him in line.
|
Quote:
When asked if she was concerned about Thomas attending Penn State Mrs. Thomas replied, "I am. Honestly I am. I'm going to have to have a serious talk with him. I'm definitely not leaving it up to him. We all need to sit down and talk about this because I just want the best for my son. & I need to see what type of options he wants to have right now, because Penn State, to me, is not a good option.
Thomas added that his mother had expressed interest in him attending the University of Maryland before his commitment. Thomas chose Penn State over offers from Maryland, Tennessee, Pittsburgh and Illinois.

Taking what 42 said in the Givens thread a bit further, I bet Mrs. Thomas' comments will be entirely different after she visits State College and enjoys one of SuePa's pasta dinners. However, after that I doubt the UMD reporters will be so eager to write about them.

Well, what does Mrs. Fridge cook? If you know, then you'll know what Thomas and his family had for dinner yesterday...
