By Mark Clem (TerrapinTimes.com). Derrick's Penn State commitment is very solid, Maryland and other schools are still recruiting him. Is waiting until late January to take his PSU official...is not planning visits to any other school but might take one to Maryland. Derrick will do what is best for him and it's his decision.

I bet UMD isn't really recruiting Thomas -- instead they're probably working on his momma hoping she can pressure him into changing his mind. Of all the MD kids PSU has gotten (and may still get) in this class, I think losing Thomas stings them the most because they thought they had a shot at landing him.

I bet they are recruiting his mom and its getting harder and harder with each passing day. Maybe UMD should worry about keeping Hawkins instead of trying to steal Thomas. Considering Thomas' two best friends are solid PSU verbals, its a tough chore to make him change. The only way he does is because of mom. |

Why would a player commit to a school as they are about to lose their coach?
For that matter, why would any player worth a crap verbal to Maryland in the first place?

The Hawkins thing came from a Farrell column a few days ago. I saw that Fridge rumor, but it seemed to be way too sketchy and in internet rumor territory to take seriously.
There are a couple of other things I've heard about the Hoboken kids lately that sort of support that, but it's still a major stretch.
