Beachum reports a 3.3 core GPA and 19 ACT.
Beachum: "I have a lot of leadership qualities. I've been playing varsity ball since my freshman year, so other guys look to me for guidance. I have good field vision too. My head's always in the game. I want to work on my speed and my strength this summer…try to bring my forty time (4.62) down some. I have no preference for either running back or linebacker."

In a recent interview with Rivals, Beachum stated that:
a. Penn State has now offered him as a RB and
b. PSU is in his top three schools (w/Nebraska and Wisconsin).
IMO - this kid has been all over the place with his public statements, but it looks like his interest in PSU is legit.

Can't hurt having Zordich in the fold already as well...I always thought LSU and FSU would be bigger players once they offered but it seems like he likes the idea of staying in the Midwest. Do you have a preference: Shaw or Beachum?

I'm not a big fan of Shaw at all. I just don't like his running style. I'll have to check out Beachum at RB, but it wouldn't take much for me to prefer him.

LOL - both!
In fact, the general feeling on the message boards is that we could end up with Shaw and Beachum...and still would find room for a Dontavious Jackson or Darrell Scott (I know, pipe dream) if they were interested.
BWI has stated that Penn State could take 3 RB prospects in this class.
FWIW, my take...80% chance with Shaw...40% chance with Beachum.

I know a lot of OSU fans wanted to see Beachum get an offer as a LB, but I just don't see it happening. Taking him and Shaw might not be a bad thing as Brandon has the ability to play at a high level on either side of the ball if Shaw ends up being the man. Yancich, Zordich and Mauti are already a heck of a LB haul in any year...and I don't believe they have offered too many others (Meyers from CT who really likes UF and UM) so Beachum could also be a fourth in that rotation (or a third if a guy like Zordich ends up at FB).

IF Beachum picks PSU, the only way I see him at LB is if they land at least 3 RBs because they've got little depth at all at RB -- they got 2 in '06 and apparently one of those is now at safety, and got none in the '07 class. Meanwhile, LB recruiting has been strong including Colasanti, Dailey and Stupar in the '07 class so that Yancich et al can rotate with them, and I'd expect a couple of LBs in the next class too.
Considering that PSU has yet to even get 1 RB commit in this class, I think it is too early to predict they will get so many that they'll have the luxury of moving Beachum to LB.

Not too surprising given his (and his family's) reaction to the visit.
Thanks for the info.

Beachum and Shaw would be a nice one-two punch for Penn State. Could be the same thing that Hunt and Scott were supposed to be.

Rivals $
7/16
From the Nebraska site...will make an official to Lincoln on 9/28. Also has officials set-up to PSU (9/7), Wisconsin (9/21), Florida State (10/19) and LSU (11/22)...however says he has narrowed his list to Wisconsin, Penn State, Nebraska, LSU and West Virginia.
