One of the state's top linebackers out of the class of 2010 will be David Wilkerson (Danville, Calif./ Monte Vista). Wilkerson has one early offer and said three schools currently stand out for him.

Wilkerson will likely be a national recruit in the spring and is getting a lot of looks right now.

"Cal has offered me and I'm also hearing from Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, USC and Oregon State," Wilkerson said. "Right now my plan is to go through the recruiting process and take some visits in the summer but I do have a solid top three right now.

"Cal, Oregon and Nebraska are really standing out. Cal is the local school and with the early offer, I'm pretty high on them. Oregon and Nebraska are solid programs and have been recruiting me hard. I'm going to try and camp with both of them in the summer and I also want to visit there to catch a spring practice as well."

Wilkerson said there are several things he's looking for in the college he chooses.

"I'm looking for a good coaching staff that can make me better," Wilkerson said. "I'm also looking at the facilities and the depth chart. I want to play early so I'm looking at how many linebackers are on the roster.

"For me, I want to walk in to a stadium and just get that special feeling and know that's the place for me. I don't want to commit too early though. I talk to Zach Ertz (teammate committed to Stanford) a lot and he told me to take my time and make sure I know everything about the schools I'm looking at so that's what I'm planning to do."

David Wilkerson - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

Quote:
David Wilkerson has pledged to California's 2010 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound inside linebacker chose the Bears over Michigan, Nebraska and Oregon. He is the 4th commitment for California.

Wilkerson told ESPN affiliate Web site BearInsider.com, "When I first set foot on campus, I knew it was the place for me. I visited USC and some other good schools, but it wasn't the same as Cal. When Coach Tedford and the defensive coordinator (Bob Gregory) filled me in on how they'd like to use me, it all just sounded good."
