Sheldon sophomore Curtis White, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end and defensive end, has made a verbal commitment to Oregon, he said Friday.
“I’ve wanted to play for Oregon forever, my whole life,” White said. “I’ve always wanted to be a Duck.”
White said he received an oral offer of a scholarship from the Ducks about a month ago and accepted then. Scout.com first reported his commitment Friday afternoon.
Sheldon won a Class 6A state title last fall, with White catching 30 passes for 380 yards and six touchdowns and also recording 13 sacks.
White said he was surprised to receive the offer so early but hopeful that his early recruitment might help him avoid a lengthy recruiting process that could become a distraction to his prep team.
Oregon commit Curtis White (Eugene, Ore./ Sheldon) picked up offers from Cal and Oregon State. We talked to White's mother Amy who said despite the offers, White is 100% committed to the Ducks and is not looking around.
