'10 OK ATH DeMarco Cobbs

Athlete
Tulsa (OK) Tulsa Central

Ht: 6-foot-2
Wt: 189 lbs
Forty: 4.5 secs
Class: 2010 (High School)

SportingNews.com - The Recruitnik

Quote:
The Tulsa (Okla.) Central athlete has also picked up offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas and Texas Tech since then. Texas is also heavily recruiting the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder--not bad for a 2010 graduate.

From the ND site. Cobbs has offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Tulsa and Arkansas, but says he would like to hear from Notre Dame. He likes what the Irish offer off the field, and thinks he could help them turn things around.

By G Powers. Tennessee has offered. Oklahoma has extended a verbal offer, and Cobbs also feels that Texas may offer at junior day.

"Getting offers from Florida, Alabama and LSU, just different places like that. For them to recruit me way up here and I'm an Oklahoma boy," Cobbs said. "It means a lot to me. It makes me feel wanted."

Colleges are offering Cobbs the life he's always strived for but never had. His mother is in the middle of serving an 18-year prison sentence.

"I know there are a lot of kids out there who have it a lot worse than me," Cobbs said. "I don't really have it bad but being without your mom, there's nothing like your mom. It inspires me to work even harder."

And there sits her name bound to his bicep: Wendy Cobbs, crafted in cursive.

"I just wanted to get this to show her even though she hasn't been in my life I still love her," Cobbs said. "I forgive her for not being there for me, but I still love her and I wanted to show her that."

From the Mizzou site. Cobbs says at one point Texas was his favorite, but that now he doesn't have one. Missouri is in his top 3 or 4 and he is trying to get there to check things out.

ESPN College Football Recruiting On the Trail

Quote:
More huge offers for elite ATH DeMarco Cobbs
One of the hottest prospects the last few weeks has been athlete DeMarco Cobbs. Cobbs is picking up new offers by the day and received a big one earlier this week, ESPN's Greg Biggins reports.

"Texas just offered him and he has always liked the Horns," Central coach Corey Russell said. "In the last week, LSU, Missouri and Kansas have also offered. We're starting to lose count around here."

Cobbs is a tremendous athlete who could play a number of positions in college. As a junior, he played quarterback and rushed for 1,113 yards and 15 touchdowns and threw for 1,030 yards and six more scores. He could end up at receiver, running back or in the secondary at the next level.

"Not only is DeMarco the best athlete I've ever coached, he's the best athlete I've ever seen at the high school level," Russell said. "He's a tremendous talent who can do everything on a football field."

DeMarco Cobbs - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

Quote:
Under Armour All-American athlete DeMarco Cobbs told ESPN affiliate Web site WeAreSC.com, "I talk to USC a lot, and right now they're my number one school. They have great academics, they put guys out to the league (NFL) every year and I have a lot of family out there."

He added, "I like the fact that they produce big receivers. I watched guys like Mike Williams, Dwayne Jarrett and Patrick Turner accomplish big things. They also recruit the top players, so I'll be surrounded by top players."

The ESPNU 150 Watch List talent is holding additional scholarship offers from top programs across the nation including Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and Florida.
