'10 MO WR Marcus Lucas (Missouri Verbal)
'10 MO WR Marcus Lucas
Wide Receiver
Liberty (MO) Liberty Senior
Ht: 6-foot-4
Wt: 175 lbs
Class: 2010 (High School)
Rivals (free)
9/10
Quote:
CLASS OF 2010
CONSIDERING: Offer from Kansas State, likes Missouri
PERFORMANCE: Had six receptions for 69 yards and two touchdowns in a 60-41 loss to Raymore (Mo.) Raymore-Peculiar.
STRENGTHS: Lucas has the build of a college receiver already. He also showed flashes of speed when he caught the ball underneath and broke downfield. Showed amazing hands when he snagged a ball out of mid-air that was thrown behind him.
WEAKNESSES: Needs to learn how to get off the line better and defeat double-teams thrown his way. Did struggle a little early with a few drops, but later showed true form with acrobatic catches. – J.C.

From the Mizzou site. Marcus says he had a really nice time at Missouri's junior day this past weeend. The coaches stressed how important keeping talent in state is, as well as how he would be used in the offense. Nebraksa has also offered.

The Recruiting Geek: Arkansas Must Work Hard for Chance at Lucas - KFSM
Quote:
University of Arkansas.
"I don't know much about them at all," he said said. "My coach knows more about them than I do."
In fact, the 6-4, 175 pound junior says the most contact he has had with Arkansas is in the form of letters.
"They're constantly sending me mail," he said. "But I've yet to contact the head coach from there."
Lucas listed Missouri, Oklahoma, and Stanford as his top three schools. The Rivals.com rated four-star has seven offers, including one from Arkansas. Missouri fans have said they believe he is a lock for the Tigers, but Lucas said that is not the case.
"Not necessarily," Lucas said. "I'm keeping my options open to see what will be best for me, not everyone else."
Not being a lock for his home state school leaves a lot of room for other schools to come in, and Lucas said he is open to Arkansas. He said he would be more interested if Arkansas were to contact him on a more personal level.

NWAnews.com :: Northwest Arkansas' News Source
Quote:
One of the nation's best receivers, Marcus Lucas of Liberty, Mo., visited Arkansas during its senior camp.
Lucas, 6-4, 190, 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, was accompanied by his coach, Joel Wells, who is originally from Marshall.
Wells said Lucas probably has more than 30 scholarship offers, including one from Arkansas.
"Marcus is a very explosive football player," said Wells, whose parents still live in Marshall. "He has great hands. He's a rangy 6-4, 6-5 player that can make plays and has a lot of toughness going over the middle of the field. He doesn't mind going up in traffic and catching the football."
Lucas was said to be favoring Oklahoma and Missouri before his trip to Fayetteville, but reportedly he is now seriously considering Arkansas.
