Gabe has trimmed his list down to four schools, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Oregon.
“I’ve been to Notre Dame on an official visit. Stanford and Oklahoma on unofficial visits.” Ikard said.
Ikard comments on his visit to Notre Dame.
“I went to the Michigan State game. It was a good atmosphere, fun to be a part of. I’ve never been out there before.” Ikard said
“I really like Charlie Weiss. He’s a cool guy. I had an hour long conversation with him and I don’t think we talked about football once,” Ikard said. “So he was an interesting guy. Just the kind of person he is. Just a little different you expect in a football coach.”
“I think they (Notre Dame) are on a rise. They started off better than they did last year,” Ikard said. “They have more wins than they did last year. So they are definitely on their way up.”
“I’m not getting any pressure to go to Oklahoma,” Ikard said. “Most of my pressure is from my friends, things like that. My parents and Oklahoma coaches haven’t pressured me, just take my time.”
“I’m Sooner born red. I’ve been OU fan my whole life. I go to a lot of Oklahoma games, my parents have season tickets, it’s only a 20 to 25 minute drive,” Ikard added.
“I went out there (Stanford) on an unofficial during spring break last year. I really liked it a lot. It’s a great location.” Ikard said
“Coach Harbaugh is just a nice guy. Different way approaching the game. He’s going to get a bunch of guys in my opinion. I know you have to get into Stanford but there’s enough talent out there.” Ikard said
“I will take all my visit. I have no idea when I will make my decision. I don’t have a time table. I don’t when I will pull the 4 trigger.” Ikard added

Gabe Ikard's recruitment went all the way to the top.
A Saturday morning meeting between Ikard, his family and University of Oklahoma president David Boren might've been the deciding factor in the McGuinness tight end orally committing to the Sooners on Sunday.
"They should have every recruit they want go talk to him," Ikard said. "He was really, really good about explaining to me how doors would be open for me if I came to OU."
Ikard, a 6-foot-3, 240-pounder, grew up a Sooners fan but wanted to go through the recruiting process and consider all of his options before deciding.
