'08 GA DE Keith Wells (Ohio State Signee)
Keith Wells
Defensive end
Gainesville (GA) Gainesville HS
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 211 lbs
Forty: 4.8 secs
Bench max: 260 pounds
Squat max: 350 pounds
Vertical: 33 inches
Keith attends the same high school as 2007 Georgia Tech offenvie line signee Nick Claytor, and he is a teammate of 2008 wide receiver prospect Tyler Adetona.
Quote:
osugrad21's take: Finally got to watch the film... He plays fast and plays disciplined. Uses his hands well and stays square on the LOS while showing solid lateral movement and initial burst. His explosiveness is evident but I also feel it is not even close to being maxed out. Good ceiling for this kid.

Wells no longer a Florida State lock; Loftley down to two

Despite committing to Florida State in August, Gainesville defensive end Keith Wells said Thursday night he’s back in evaluation mode.
“I’m still verbally committed to Florida State, but at the same time I’m still taking visits to make sure Florida State is where I want to be,” Wells said.
“I’ve visited Ohio State and Auburn. I’ll visit Florida State in January, and possibly Tennessee and Notre Dame.”
The Fighting Irish haven’t yet extended a scholarship offer. But Wells believes he is only a visit away from receiving one from coach Charlie Weis’ staff.

From the Clemson site. Wells says he is still committed to the Seminoles, but wants to be 100% sure of his choice. He has taken visits to Auburn and Ohio State, and will also visit Tennessee and FSU. His final visit could come down to Clemson and Notre Dame.

Wells not happy with FSU; Jarboe explains OU commitment | Football recruiting | ajc.com
Quote:
Gainesville defensive end Keith Wells appeared a lock to sign with Florida State in February following a commitment announcement at his school last summer.
But the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Wells now appears determined to spend the next four weeks testing the waters around the ACC and SEC.
“Right now, I’d say I will visit Tennessee, Miami and FSU,” Wells said. “And if anyone falls through, I’ve got schools like Clemson, Notre Dame and Alabama.
“I’m still not exactly sure which remaining three visits I’ll take. More than likely it will be FSU. If not this weekend, it’ll be my last visit. I’ll probably go to Tennessee next weekend and Miami on Jan. 25.”
Florida State’s prospects of regaining ground with Wells might be as simple as picking up a telephone.
“They’re not communicating with me a lot,” Wells said. “I guess they’re just wanting to see what I’m going to do. Me and the guy who was recruiting me at FSU just haven’t communicated like we used to.
“I don’t like that. It shows that they’re not concerned, as far as recruiting me and getting me to come there.”
If Wells withdraws his commitment to the Seminoles, he admitted that winding up at Notre Dame might be a long shot.
“Notre Dame still hasn’t offered,” he said. “I guess they want to get me there on an official and evaluate me and my game film.
“But I won’t seriously consider going up there unless they offer me a scholarship.”

DE Keith Wells (6-5 220) of Gainesville, GA was scheduled to visit Florida State this weekend but the Seminoles want him to come in for the final weekend, so he stayed home this weekend. Wells has been committed to the Seminoles but he is taking hard looks at other schools. Clemson was one of those but Wells said he's no longer considering the Tigers. Auburn also is off his list. He is down to Florida State, Florida, Miami, Tennessee and Ohio State. He has visited Ohio State and Auburn and will visit Tennessee this weekend and Florida on the 25th. If he doesn't visit Florida State February 1st, he might visit Miami that weekend.
