Ohio State offers Lane's Tomlinson
May 29, 2009 BY TAYLOR BELL
The recruiting stock of Laken Tomlinson soared Friday when Lane Tech's 6-5, 285-pound offensive lineman was offered a scholarship by Ohio State.
He has 14 offers, including Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Boston College, Arizona, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Duke and Iowa State.
"He impressed a lot of people on film during the May evaluation period. His recruiting really took off," said Lane Tech coach Rich Rio. "Boston College saw him on film, came in to see him in person and offered right away. Ohio State came in twice and offered."

"I haven't made those visits yet," Tomlinson said on Monday night. "Illinois will be July 20. I'm still working on a Wisconsin visit. It will be sometime this summer."

"(The University of Minnesota) didn't really compare," UW Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff said. "I loved the atmosphere here. It was pretty easy to cross (Minnesota) off the list. I wanted to play at the highest level possible but I also wanted to have that college atmosphere."

After visits to Duke and OSU, which were pretty good, Illinois is next. Illinois was his first offer, and he seems excited to get down there and learn more about the program. Nothing else planned for summer, wants to decide in the fall
