By B Lichtenfels. Brown said he has not set an exact time for making his choice, but his coach hints that it could come Monday afternoon. His mothern and grandmother may make a trip to Pitt with him, but all signs point to Ohio State right now.

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: Gateway star Brown lives up to street's legacy

Gateway star Brown lives up to street's legacy
By Dan Stefano
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Monday, August 11, 2008
Growing up on Firethorn Drive, Gateway wide receiver and defensive back Corey Brown had quite a legacy to live up to.
The small street in Garden City, a community near Monroeville, has practically sprouted an all-star team over the years. Among the Division I football players who called Firethorn home: 2008 NFL Draft fourth-round choice Justin King (Penn State), Aaron Smith (Pitt), Jordan Stevens (Miami of Ohio), B.J. Stevens (Miami of Ohio), Gateway coach Terry Smith (Penn State) and Terry's brother, first-year Kiski Area coach Harvey Smith (West Virginia).

Fabulous 22: A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Thanksgiving tradition
Thursday, November 27, 2008
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Quote:
COREY BROWN
The skinny: Caught 42 passes for 708 yards and had a school-record 15 touchdown passes. Ranked among the top 10 players in the state.
College: Had scholarship offers from across the country. Has committed to Ohio State. Will most likely play defensive back.
Other than a parent, who has been a role model to you? Our coach, Terry Smith. Just because he has made great strides in life and he took me under his wing.
Favorite school subject? Social studies.
Food you can't do without? Grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Something you'd change about high school? Cell phone policies.
You'd like to spend a day with ...? Chad Johnson.
If you won a million dollars, what would you buy first? My mom a house.
People might be surprised to know that you ... I like to play the Wii Fit exercise video game.

Final PA Top 50 Signing Week Special: The state’s top prospects
By Chris Dokish
As always, this list was compiled after extensive interviews with college and high school coaches, as well as scouts and players. Special thanks to Joe Butler, founder of Metro Index Scouting and originator of the NFL scouting service, BLESTO, for his input.
This is not a list of the 50 best high school players in the state this year; it is a list of the 50 best college prospects in the state.
Quote:
Elite Prospect
3. Corey Brown, Gateway HS (Monroeville) CB- Gateway head coach Terry Smith has been producing elite prospects almost yearly since he has become coach and amazingly he has two of the top three prospects in the class this year. The 180-pound corner needs to add some weight, but he has excellent cornerback size at 6'1". Excellent high school wide receiver who could also project at the position in college. Not a speed demon, but has good speed to go along with great hands, athleticism, body control and toughness. "Best cover corner I've seen in the state in awhile," says Butler. Chose OHIOSTATE over Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Michigan, Notre Dame and Alabama, among others. Bottom line: An excellent football player who proved himself against the best of the best all season, whether it was in games, combines, camps or all-star games.
