Quote:
Hillsborough wide receiver and safety Terrence Mitchell has received an official offer from Duke University, Terriers coach Earl Garcia said Thursday.
Mitchell is only a junior but his performances in track and field last spring, along with his football skills, have apparently turned the heads of the Duke coaching staff. Mitchell long jumped 24 feet, 1 inch last spring, won the region in the event and was third in the Class 3A state finals. In the 100-meter dash, Mitchell, aka “T-Rex,” was the regional runner-up, ran a personal best of 10.59 seconds and finished seventh at the state meet. He was also part of the Terriers’ state-ranked 4x100 relay team. This fall, he is a starter at safety and wide out for Hillsborough.
His teammate and cousin on the track and football teams, senior Lindsey Lamar, already has an offer from Duke. This weekend, Lamar, also a state-ranked sprinter and the Terriers’ leading rusher last fall with nearly 1,000 yards, plans to make an official visit to Wake Forest. Lamar says the Demon Deacons are currently his top choice for college football. He also has several track scholarship offers.

Hillsborough's Mitchell receives offer from FSU
Quote:
Florida State is beginning to make a significant dive into recruiting Hillsborough County's next crop of football talent, and the Seminoles made their latest move late last week by making an offer to Hillborough wide receiver/safety Terrence Mitchell.
It's a significant offer for Mitchell (right in photo), who has about 12 offers, including ones from Duke and USF, Hillsborough coach Earl Garcia said. Garcia said FSU defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews made the offer late last week.
"They had seen his highlight film and about five coaches came down to visit," Garcia said. "He's got a 3.0 grade point average and he's a great kid. The way these things work is usually on of the big ones offer and the rest follow."
The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Mitchell made eight receptions for 169 yards and one touchdown. Known as one of the hardest hitters in the county, he made 34 tackles and two interceptions on defense.

Bernard impressed by OU and FSU - ESPN
Quote:
Cornerback Terrence Mitchell (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough) still has Florida State out in front as his clear leader.
"It's a top of the line program," he said. "I mean it's Florida right now. It used to be Miami and soon it will be Florida State again. The defense is real good and I think I could start right away. I just need to perform when I get there."
Illinois and North Carolina are the most recent offers for Mitchell.
