Orhian Johnson is familiar with Tennessee’s successful history.
The athlete from Boca Ciega High School in Gulfport, Fla., has grown up following the three big in-state schools: Florida, Florida State and Miami. But he’s also seen plenty of UT.
Johnson said he’s become familiar with the Vols by watching them win the 1998 National Championship and battling SEC East rival Florida each year.
“Seeing that rivalry all the time was a great thing,” he said. “They played Florida State in the national title game and pulled out the win. Florida State had a great team and Tennessee went out and played better and got the win.”
Johnson has received strong interest from UT but is still waiting on a scholarship offer. He currently lists offers from Ohio State, South Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Florida International, Western Kentucky and Connecticut. He said he’s also received interest from Ole Miss.

Orhian is planning to unoffically visit on 9/8 after he watches his cousin Andrew Phelan play for Lakota West. If this doesn't work out, he will definitely take an official.

"I'm just waiting to see how everything goes this season and if I get any more offers," Orhian Johnson said. "I want to see if I get interest from any other schools. I wish I had a time table or a better idea of where I want to go, but I don't. I don't expect to make a decision early." He favors Ohio State, Florida, Indiana, South Florida and Florida International.

Although he denies a leader, Orhian Johnson said he is favoring South Florida, Ohio State and Florida (no offer yet). "Florida is already pretty loaded, so they are seeing which position I could play," Johnson said. "I think they might recruit me as a defensive back or perhaps a wide receiver." Johnson will unofficially trip to Ohio State for the Michigan State game on Oct. 20.

Sports: Jefferson 34, Boca Ciega 16
Quote:
By MIKE COLAPIETRO, Times Correspondent
Published November 17, 2007
ST. PETERSBURG - With a decisive win over Boca Ciega behind him, Jefferson head coach Mike Fenton was already looking forward to next weeks Class 4A state playoff game against Plant.
"I wanted to play Plant," Fenton said. "They have a great program. It gives us a chance to come and shock the state champions."
Boca Ciega seemed up to the challenge early. On the Pirates second play, quarterback Orhian Johnson completed a 54-yard pass to Ja-Vonta Trotter setting up a 25-yard Randall Klafter field goal.
But the momentum shifted in Jefferson's favor quickly as quarterback Zack Grossi threw touchdown passes of 57 and 58 yards to open receivers. A 4-yard touchdown run by Mark Winters gave the Dragons 20 unanswered points in the first half.

Although Orhian Johnson is ranked as the No. 49 quarterback in the country by Scout.com, most of his favorites (Ohio State, Kansas, South Florida and Tennessee) are recruiting him as an athlete. "I'm being recruited as a quarterback, defensive back, wide receiver," Johnson said. "The only school which has just talked about quarterback is USF..."
