Lengthy intro to Will Studlien by Gary Housteau...coaches from Akron, Pitt, Northwestern and OSU (Fickell) were at Big Walnut to see about Will at the end of last year. Missed camp with an ankle injury.

Film Review: I am having a hard time ranking Studlien, Ferrell and Klein...all three of them display unreal instincts for kids that are sophmores on these highlight reels. I may have to favor Will a little bit more just because he is a rugby player. He deinitely passes the look test and seems like he could be a MLB down the road. I would not be surprised to see OSU offer all three of Klein, Ferrell and Studlien and even Marrow as a LB/DE. Will moves so well for a guy his size...not just straight line but also side to side. He is able to change direction without losing momentum, which is the mark of a great LB who can flow to the ball.

Juniors returning are split end-defensive back Jacob Deltedesco (5-10, 165), tight end-linebacker Brian Dillion (6-2, 190), split end-defensive back Nick Heiden (6-0, 175), runningback-defensive back Patrick Daugherty 5-9, 155), tight end-defensive lineman Colton Griffis (6-6, 280), offensive lineman-linebacker Will Studlien (6-3, 225), offensive lineman-linebacker Nate Scarbury (6-2, 225), lineman Logan Mead (5-10, 205), lineman Kalven Baer (5-11, 230) and lineman Travis Mead (6-2, 230) who lettered last fall as sophomores.

Suvak, Franklin, Studlien were first-team All-OCC choices. Nelson earned second-team recognition.

When you think of Midwest football, you imagine games played in cold and snowy conditions and last weekend's Ohio state championship games in Canton and Massillon lived up to those expectations. Six games were played in two days and it featured top junior prospects, top senior prospects, ice, snow flurries and plenty of hard hitting.

In the Division III championship game played at Canton's Fawcett Stadium, two of the top juniors in the Midwest battled.

Ohio State-bound athlete Storm Klein had been devastating in the first three rounds of the state tournament. He put up big numbers and showed why the Buckeyes offered him so early in victories over Granville, Beloit West Branch, Canal Fulton Northwest and Monroe.

But Friday junior linebacker Will Studlien contained Klein with an avalanche of tough hits, bone crushing blocks and an all-out effort that didn't end until his Sunbury Big Walnut teammates were celebrating a 17-10 victory over Newark Licking Valley.

Looks as if Zook has targeted Ohio this year.

All comes down to whether OSU offers or not...he is best friends with current '09 OSU commit Storm Klein and has not been shy about wanting an offer from OSU...
