ThisWeek Community Newspapers - Licking County - Klein eager to play defense
Quote:

KURTIS ADAMS
ThisWeek Staff Writer
Storm Klein, a standout with the Licking Valley High School football team, has demonstrated considerable patience.
Nearly everyone knew him either by name or reputation even before he began his freshman year, yet he never complained as coach Randy Baughman held off until the fourth game of 2005 before bringing him up to play varsity. Then he had to be satisfied playing on just one side of the ball, something he wasn't accustomed to after playing running back and linebacker in middle school.

I think this line is a bit premature:

"It's been a while (since I played defense), except maybe for a few plays last year. Really, the last time was my freshman year before I got called up," said Klein, who already has accepted a scholarship offer from Ohio State.

Although it's only a matter of time until that becomes a true statement...

The Panthers will be massive up front and will look to push around a smaller Zanesville team to open holes for Storm Klein and Josh Bailey.

Free update:
Bucknuts.com - Will Klein Soon Join Whiting As A 2009 OSU Commitment?
Quote:
Bucknuts had the news first that Jordan Whiting would commit to OSU as soon as he landed a written offer from the Bucks. So it was no surprise when Whiting announced on Saturday that he is a Buckeye. Storm Klein has said OSU is his big leader. What does Klein say about possibly soon joining Whiting as a Buckeye commitment?

"Ohio State is still my big leader," Klein said. "I'm just going with the flow right now. I'm still thinking about (committing to Ohio State). I still have tons of time left. It's just a matter of time. It could be tomorrow, it could be in a few months."

By A. Jardy at the OSU site. Klein doesn't know when he will choose, but does admit that he will be a Buckeye. He also talks about his friendship with fellow '09 OSU verbal Jordan Whiting.

The Columbus Dispatch : High school football: Offenses evolve to use skills of talented QBs
Quote:
Quieter storm
Licking Valley junior running back Storm Klein, who totaled nearly 3,000 yards rushing and 41 touchdowns in his first two seasons, is averaging only 83 yards, but it's not necessarily a bad thing for the Panthers (5-1).
Klein leads a multi-headed backfield in which seven players average more than 7 yards per carry. The 6-3, 220-pounder, who is weighing scholarship offers from elite programs across the country, plays linebacker full time.
"We feel like we have some depth among our running backs and receivers, and by spreading it around to different people, hopefully it will make us more difficult to defend," Panthers coach Randy Baughman said.
"Storm's not the selfish type, but I'm sure he wouldn't complain if we asked him to carry 30 times a game like he did the past two years. … And we may yet do that down the road. But Storm's college future is probably on the defensive side of the ball, and he makes just as big of an impact there for us."

OSU RECRUIT
Klein named All-American Bowl nominee
LV player hopes to be one of 90 who play
By SETH ROY
Advocate Reporter
HANOVER -- Licking Valley running back/linebacker Storm Klein got a surprise visit from two U.S. Army staff sergeants Thursday during lunch.
Klein was nominated to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 3, 2009, at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Staff Sgt. Clayton Prater announced the nomination in the cafeteria.
Klein, who has committed to Ohio State, is one of 400 nationally to be nominated to play in the game. That list will be whittled down to the 90 who actually will play.
"I always thought it would be cool to play in San Antonio," Klein said of the game, which began in 2001.
Klein was quick to credit his teammates, coaches and community with his success and nomination.
"This award comes with a lot of thanks to others," he said.
