Maryland Offers Local Defensive End - Josh Barr's Recruiting Insider

Forestville Coach Charles Harley reports that junior defensive end DeOnte Arnett picked up his first scholarship offer yesterday, from Maryland. Arnett had 63 tackles and 15 sacks this past season. Harley expects that Arnett will receive more offers soon, with Virginia, North Carolina State, Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Colorado all very interested in Arnett.

Forestville Standout Narrows His List - Josh Barr's Recruiting Insider

Let's start with Forestville's DeOnte' Arnett, who has whittle his list to five final choices, according to Knights Coach Charles Harley: Maryland, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State and Cincinnati.

Arnett, a 6-4, 247-pound defensive end, plans to visit all five schools this summer and make a decision before the season starts, Harley said, adding that Arnett also plans to graduate after the fall semester so that he can enroll in college and participate in spring practice.

As for the one notable exclusion from Arnett's choices, Harley said the player never entertained what again has become a popular destination for local players, Penn State.

Forestville's Arnett Set to Decide - Josh Barr's Recruiting Insider

According to Coach Charles Harley, Forestville junior DeOnte Arnett -- a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end -- is expected to make a verbal commitment on Wednesday.

Rated as high as 11th among the nation's top defensive ends, Arnett has a tremendous wing-span, which helped him to 72 tackles and 15 sacks last fall as well as 18 official offers. He's narrowed that list to five -- Ohio State, Georgia, Maryland, Tennessee and Cincinnati. B.J. will have more on Arnett next week as he sits down for a question and answer session in the Recruiting Spotlight.

The guess here is that Arnett gives the local team quite a boost and pledges for the Terps.
