In the past four years, Channing Crowder and Brandon Siler have pretty much defined the way middle linebacker should be played for the Florida Gators. Their combination of tough play in the middle and inspired leadership has set a standard for all who will follow at the MIKE position. The job belongs to Brandon Spikes now, but the Gators are already seeking his successor and that's one of the reasons Florida is high on Etienne Sabino's list of favorite schools.

“I know they are in need of a MIKE linebacker because they only have one right now so that is something I am considering,” said the linebacker from Miami Dr. Krop.

In addition to what seems like a favorable depth chart, Sabino also really likes the wining tradition the Gators have. Those two reasons helped Florida survive when Sabino cut his list a couple of weeks ago.

“I have cut my list for the most part right now,” he said. “Florida is a team I am still considering, but I am also still looking at about seven other schools. They are Ohio State, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Miami, Tennessee, LSU and Southern Cal.”

Florida Gators Country - Football Recruiting - Sabino to decide on November 13th

With two official visits already under his belt Etienne Sabino is focused on narrowing down his list as he hopes to make a decision sometime in the near future. Right now he is still considering the two schools he visited (Southern Cal and Florida), one school he has plans to visit, (Ohio State), and four others (Miami, LSU, Georgia Tech and UNC).

Sabino narrows his list to two
Etienne Sabino of Dr. Michael M. Krop High in Miami, the fourth-best middle linebacker in the nation according to Scout.com, is no longer considering Georgia Tech.
?I?m down to Ohio State and Southern Cal,? Sabino said Tuesday evening.
Sabino, who also eliminated Florida, Miami and North Carolina from consideration, said he plans to announce his decision on, or around, his birthday on November 13.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker is also working on having his commitment televised live on ESPN.
?That?s a possibility,? he said. ?It?s something I?m looking at.?
Sabino had nothing negative to say about Tech.
?I?ve just always felt good about Ohio State,? Sabino said. ?And I had a good trip out to Southern Cal. I have a good feeling about those two schools.
