Michael Buchanan as a junior in 2007 was named as an all area selection for the Vikings and head coach Kenneth Smith.

Also a standout on the Flossmoor basketball team. Same HS as '08 Illinois signees Supo Sanni and Russell Ellington.

Bio: Vikings basketball coach Jim McLaughlin eagerly awaited the arrival of the 6-6 Buchanan on the court, but first he had to help the football team take care of business. The linebackers behind him amassed higher tackle totals, but Buchanan was the ignitor for an unsung defense.
