Northwestern University head football coach Pat Fitzgerald got some help for his defensive line with the Wildcats' 14th commitment Sunday night. Evan Luxenburg, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive end from Beachwood, Ohio accepted the Cats' scholarship offer.

Luxenburg played defensive end for Beachwood but will more than likely move to tackle when he comes to Evanston. He also had a scholarship offer from Eastern Michigan and was drawing interest from Iowa, Miami (Ohio), Navy, Ohio University and Harvard.

Taking into account that he played for a Division IV football team that won three of its past 20 games, Beachwood two-way lineman Evan Luxenburg thought, at best, he had a chance of playing at the Mid-American Conference level.
But, Northwestern offered Luxenburg a scholarship, and without much hesitation, he answered with his oral commitment to the Big Ten school.
"I gave them my commitment at the end of December, but I made an official visit two weekends ago," said Luxenburg, whose only other offer came from Eastern Michigan. "Northwestern began contacting me in the summer, so I sent them some film from my junior year and sent them more film after this past season."
