Northwestern junior day attacts large crowd

Over 50 prospects were in attendance for Northwestern's junior day on Saturday. The large group included close to a dozen Ohioans, highlighted by offensive lineman Travis Jackson (Columbus/DeSales), quarterback Andrew Hendrix (Cincinnati /Moeller) and linebacker Nick Galvin (Cincinnati /Moeller), tight end Alex Welch (Cincinnati/Elder) and wide receiver Tim O'Conner (Cincinnati/Elder)
The 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Hendrix received some good news while in Evanston.
"My recruiting coach, Kevin Johns, called me over," Hendrix said. "I went to coach Fitzgerald's office and talked to him. Later he informed me they were going to offer."
Hendrix's offer list now includes Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Virginia and Boston College. However, he is not ready to select a college.
"I liked Northwestern a lot," Hendrix said. "It is a very close knit group there. It's like a little Moeller. But I didn't commit. I'm going to try and visit Illinois or Ohio State this weekend."
Jackson already had a Northwestern scholarship offer on the table when he arrived in Evanston on Saturday. The 6-5, 255-pound guard has offers from Northwestern, Cincinnati, Stanford, Indiana and Toledo.
Like Hendrix, Jackson enjoyed his Northwestern visit, but is not ready to select a college.
"I was really impressed with the Northwestern players," Jackson said. "They are all great guys. I got to sit down with Coach (Pat) Fitzgerald. We talked about the big decision of picking a college. He obviously wants me to go to Northwestern."
Jackson has attended junior days at Northwestern, Cincinnati and Toledo. He plans to visit Vanderbilt March 21, and would like to take at least a couple other visits before selecting a college.
"I want to visit Stanford, Michigan and Vanderbilt before I decide anything," Jackson said. "But Northwestern is probably my favorite. I was very impressed."
