From the ND site. Notre Dame has offered, joining Mississippi State (where his brother plays). He talks about the academics at Notre Dame, and how he liked the coaches and campus.

By S Robertson. Notre Dame, Stanford, Indiana, Mississippi State and North Carolina have offered. He doesn't have any favorites and will look for early playing time and a good education.

With his team at 5-2 and on a four-game winning streak, Plainfield junior offensive tackle James Hurst has more immediate things to worry about than higher education.

But college certainly is on his mind, what with Notre Dame, North Carolina, Purdue, Indiana, Stanford, Duke and Mississippi State (where his brother, Nelson, now is a freshman tight end) all interested.

"It's nice, I mean, to have a feeling that people know about you and think you're a good football player and wanting you to come to your school," Hurst said, "and it's just something you've got to be humble about and take what they give you."

Hurst won't be taking any scholarships just yet, though, saying he expects to choose "next year, definitely, sometime, but I'm not sure when."

As for now, having seen his brother go through the recruiting process "helps me out," he said.

"Right now, I'm just trying to look around at colleges, see what they have to offer, see what I like, things like that," Hurst said. "So I'm not really making any decisions, but I'm just looking around."

For his part, coach Brian Woodard certainly doesn't see the distractions affect his top tackle, who has helped pave the way for senior running back Zane Fakes (211 carries, 1,285 yards, 17 TDs).

"Before it's all said and done, there's going to be quite a few schools (that) come through the doors at Plainfield High School to try to lure him to come and play for them," Woodard said. "But right now, he's been focused on this season and taking care of what he has to take care of.

"He has the fortune of having gone through this process with his older brother, so he knows how that's gone, so he's not a rookie in that respect. So that helps."
