Brandon gave his visit to Nebraska a 9 or a 10. He will visit Purdue this weekend before making a decision.

Kearney Hub - Texas recruit could shut the door on Robinson
Quote:
Here’s the latest on Nebraska’s latest official visitor and quick updates on two junior college players who you will see on the field next year at this time.
Woodlands, Texas, offensive lineman Brandon Thompson was the only official visitor for Nebraska this past weekend to see the Huskers defeat Iowa State, and his reaction sounds like the typical endorsement of the program.
Keep in mind that Trevor Robinson from Omaha still has not confirmed he will choose the Huskers over Notre Dame and Michigan, so a commitment from Thompson in the next 10 days could shut the door on Robinson.
With one more official visit scheduled before making his decision, Thompson said he enjoyed his time in Lincoln.
“I was pretty much blown away by everything,” the the 6-foot-6, 280-pounder said. “It was extremely nice. Everything went great. It puts them as one of my top choices right now. I was just really excited (before the trip) because I know the tradition they have there and the football program. I mean the program for offensive linemen there is one of the best.”
Thompson and his stepfather made the trip to Lincoln Friday morning checked out quite a bit during the two-day visit.
“We got to see the training table for lunch; met my host, Austin Cassidy; and then after that, we toured everything,” Thompson said. “I think we did everything that day except for the locker room and the academic facilities on Friday.
“On Saturday we saw all of the academic All-Americans — that was really impressive. We saw the dorms, went to the game, got to see the Tunnel Walk and saw the player’s locker room before they went out and then afterwards. That was a neat experience. I talked to the strength coach and saw the weight room. I mean I pretty much saw everything.”
The trip won’t be his last. Thompson will visit Purdue this weekend and is considering Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, where he visited earlier.
“The most important thing is where I feel comfortable, and I’ve got to feel like I have to be there,” Thompson said. “I’ve got to like the coaches, of course, that’s a big deal, and also the players and the facilities. Academics as well — I want a good balance of athletics and academics. I’ll talk to my parents about it, get their input, talk with my coaches and get their opinions as well before my decision.”

Sluggish start not hurting football's recruiting - Sports
Quote:
Nebraska's recent struggles on the football field have not hurt its recruiting momentum.
The Cornhuskers landed a verbal commitment from Brandon Thompson, an offensive lineman from The Woodlands High School in Texas.
Thompson becomes the 24th commitment to the 2008 recruiting class and is rated as a three-star prospect, according to the recruiting Web site Rivals.com. Woodlands Coach Mark Schmid said Thompson will be a positive addition to the Husker offense.
"He's one of the best, if not the best, lineman I've ever coached in 21 years," Schmid said.
Thompson, a 6-foot-6, 285-pounder who can dunk a basketball, is ranked the 78th-best high school player in Texas, according to Rivals.com, and the 53rd-ranked offensive tackle in the nation.
Schmid said Woodlands High is well known for its potent rushing attack and Thompson is a big reason for that. He always creates a huge void in opposing defensive lines, but his strength might be his ability to pass block, Schmid added.
"He's a great pass blocker because of his huge wingspan," Schmid said.
The Woodlands' football team is 1-4 and averaging 18 points a game.
Thompson is well aware of the tradition and reputation of the offensive line at Nebraska, and that is partially the reason why he chose to become a Husker. NU Coach Bill Callahan's connections to the NFL are another big reason for Thompson's decision.
Schmid said Thompson is a very coachable and bright person who is disciplined on and off the field. He's not a vocal individual, but leads by example.
"He's one of the hardest working kids we have," Schmid said.

By B. Munson at the Nebraska site. Thompson talks about his verbal to Nebraska, and says Lincoln felt more comfortable than anywhere else.
