Was a real good get for us. He had offers from Florida, LSU, and the rest of the SEC powers so he should be a quality player. He has a chance to start as a true freshman but he'll have 3 other TEs as competition.

thanks for the link wad.
This kid looks like he's going to be a great one and you have to love that kids frame and size. Still baffled as to why Ohio State didn't go after him with a full head of steam, especially considering I think he's a much better prospect then the TE that Ohio State just got a verbal from.

As you know Moore and DiLillo are two completely different types of TEs...and the OSU staff preferred DiLillo to Moore from Day 1. Ayles is more like DiLillo than Moore so you can see that is the type of TE they targeted. They liked Koger because of his athleticism and his versatility.
Not sure if the Trotwood thing worked against Brandon as far as OSU is concerned but it is certainly possible. Either way he is a fine football player and great student and several OSU recruitniks would have liked to see him get an offer. I would have been happy with an offer to either of them out of the gates (as you can see here and here) but in the end I am happy with how things shook out...Moore will be a great fit in UM's scheme and DiLillo will be a great fit in OSU's offense.

Hey ^wadc45-- would you mind expanding on why the Trotwood connection would have hurt Moore? Is there something with the coaching staff there, as I see that-- despite the fact that TM has put a steady dose of 3 star type guys into BCS schools the past few years-- none are at OSU.

Profile: Trotwood-Madison tight end Brandon Moore
Quote:
Sunday, August 19, 2007
TROTWOOD — Brandon Moore heard from people all around the neighborhood a few months ago when he announced he would accept a football scholarship to the University of Michigan.
"They said, 'We'll root for you in every game but one,' " said Moore, the Trotwood-Madison tight end. "They say that when they see me around."

To answer the question above, there is a noticable trend of OSU passing on Trotwood players that many feel are OSU-caliber. Moore and Peake are the two most recent examples. I don't really want to go into it too much further because there are those that frequent these boards that can answer that question better than I can.

IMO this has more to do with skill set and how OSU uses their TEs than where Moore comes from. I have known Coach tressell for around 15 yeras and if a player can help win games he IMO would not let where kid goes to school effect his recruiting. OSU TE neeed to be able to run block, max protect, and be check down receivers 1st and foremost. Being able to stretch defense, Moore's strength IMO, is just not how OSU uses TEs at this time.

In response to rumors that he was wavering, Moore says he is solidly committed to Michigan. He also talks about his high school team.

I talked to him on facebook and he said he is solid to Michigan and wondered where this rumor came from.
