Parkview Baptist junior Drew Dileo on Thursday committed to play football for Michigan.

Dileo chose the Wolverines with scholarship offers from Stanford, Virginia and Northwestern (Illinois) as well.

Signing Day in 2010 is Wednesday, Feb. 3. He is expected to play a slot receiver for Michigan.

"He told me growing up he's always been a Michigan fan," said Parkview coach Kenny Guillot.

Michigan was the first of the four BCS schools to offer Dileo, jumping in on the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder in mid-March. The Wolverines closed the deal when assistant Fred Thomas met with Dileo and his parents at Parkview on Wednesday, Guillot said.

Michigan received its 10th verbal commitment for the 2010 football class, the Baton Rouge (La.) Advocate reported today.

Drew Dileo, a receiver from Parkview (La.) Baptist, stands 5-feet-10 and 175 pounds and was also considering Stanford, Virginia and Northwestern, the paper stated. His only other reported scholarship offer, according to rivals.com, was from Stanford.

He would be the fifth wide receiver in the current class and the eighth offensive player.

Verbal commitments are nonbinding until National Signing Day in February.

Michigan has added a receiver to its 2010 class.


Drew Dileo, a junior at Parkview Baptist in Louisiana, committed to the Wolverines on Thursday, according to the Baton Rouge Advocate. Dileon, a receiver, defensive back and returner, also had offers from Stanford, Virginia and Northwestern.


The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder will play slot receiver for the Wolverines.

In his 33 years as a high school football coach, Baton Rouge (La.) Parkview Baptist's Kenny Guillot didn't have a lot of experience with the University of Michigan football program.

So when his star receiver, Drew Dileo, told him he wanted to commit there, Guillot asked him to take his time. Once Guillot discovered Dileo was a lifelong U-M fan, he endorsed the decision.
