Class of 2010 defensive end Christian Jones (Winter Park, Fla./Lake Howell) is claiming two early scholarship offers from major Florida programs.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder says that Florida State and Miami (Fla.) both offered him a scholarship on Sept. 1, the first day college programs could offer rising juniors.

Jones is the son of former Oakland Raiders and Florida State standout Willie Jones and the brother of former Florida State defensive end Willie Jones, Jr. Christian Jones attended two Seminoles games earlier this year, including a 41-39 victory at Miami and a 30-20 win against Virginia Tech in Tallahassee.

"I grew up a big-time Noles fan," Christian Jones said.

Despite playing on a high school team that went 0-10, Jones finished the season with 130 tackles. He played middle linebacker, outside linebacker and defensive end this season, but feels like he will play defensive end in college.

Jones said that while he grew up pulling for FSU, he currently is keeping his recruitment open and will consider all scholarship offers.

"I am going to be looking at the coaches and the team," he said. "Not just how the team's record is, but how they actually are as a team."

BY M Bakas. The Gators have offered. Jones calls them one of the best programs in the contry, and says its an honnor to receive the offer. Miami, FSU, Florida, USF and UCF have all offered.
