Cox discusses his commitment to Michigan. Cox ran for over 1,000 yards and 16 TD's and averaged 10 yard per carry last season as a junior. Cox says he ran a 4.40-40 at the Penn State camp this past summer.
My Take:
An out of left-field pick-up for Michigan, and I have my concerns that despite running a 4.4-40 at PSU's camp he didn't get an offer from them and they are
dying for a tailback. However, I'll trust Fred Jackson, Lloyd Carr, and Mike DeBord on this one. They must feel like he's talented enough to become a solid player in order to offer him a scholarship and accept his commitment in July.
With the news at the Big Ten media day that Avery Horn has qualified and that Grady is coming along well in rehab and might even be physically able to play in the 2nd half of the 2007 season combined with the commitment of Sam McGuffie less than a week ago and with two in-state supers at RB in the 2009 class, running back is just not that big of a need. So for me, I've got to think the coaches thought this kid was better than his 2* rating and that he has some solid potential.
