ESPN - West Recruiting Blog
Quote:
Staying in Arizona, there isn't a hotter offensive line recruit in the West right now than Chaparral (Scottsdale, Ariz.) tackle Taylor Lewan. Lewan has been absolutely dominant this season and word is spreading fast among college coaches.
It seems a new offer rolls in for Lewan almost daily with Oregon State, Arizona and Nebraska being the most recent. Arizona State, Oregon, Nevada and Minnesota had previously offered.
The interesting thing with Lewan is he's just now playing on the offensive side of the ball after playing strictly defense a year ago at Cactus Shadows. His size and athleticism are ideal for the tackle position. Once schools had a chance to see some early game film, they wasted no time in offering.

From the Miami site. Lewan is still looking at all the schools who have offered and claims no leader. He will visit Minnesota this weekend, and talks a bit about his recent offer from Miami.

The Barnes thing was mutual, and how does Lewan affect the loss of Barnes?

Campbell undecided with all-star games on tap | detnews.com | The Detroit News
Quote:
A Wolverine commitment who has been equally impressive, though hundreds of miles away, is Scottsdale, Ariz., offensive lineman Taylor Lewan. The 6-7, 270-pounder was one of the stars of the early practice session for the Under Armour game.
"The first person that I saw that really stood out to me was Taylor Lewan," said Scout.com West Coast Regional Manager Brandon Huffman. "You look at him and you see a guy that is really reminiscent of Jake Long. He's ridiculously athletic. I saw him for the first time at a combine back in May. Physically he is as impressive an offensive lineman as you'll see in the country."

ESPN - Pep Rally: Michigan lands under-the-radar offensive lineman - Insider
Quote:
Chaparral coach Charlie Ragle couldn't help but laugh when his new transfer told him he played defensive tackle.
We didn't actually chuckle this past spring when first evaluating Taylor Lewan (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) on film as a junior defensive tackle at Cactus Shadows High School (Scootsdale, Ariz.), but we weren't totally impressed, either. The transformation he has made from an unheralded, nonrecruited defensive lineman into ESPN's No. 14 ranked offensive tackle in less than a year has been nothing short of amazing. However, it didn't come without a lot of hard work and an earnest trust in a new coaching staff.
When the 6-foot-6, 255-pound, long, angular transfer showed up for Chaparral's first spring practice in April, Ragle saw a prototypical Division I offensive tackle body. Shortly after the wide-eyed Lewan took the field for the first time, Ragle also witnessed rare athleticism.
"My very first day with the team, everyone was staring at me because I was the new kid," Lewan said. "We just got timed in the 40 that first practice, but I ran a high 4.6 on my first try and then 4.7 in my next two."

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Under Armour Thursday White Hot 11
Quote:
6-7/272, Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral
It's hard not to like Lewan's potential at tackle. He is light in the pants right now and he's going to need a couple of years to develop in a college weight program but once he does, he has shown that he has some terrific tools to utilize. Lewan is an athletic tackle with a long frame who looks to be every bit of 6-7. He has good feet and balance and as he gets more weight behind him to allow him to handle power moves, he will be a tough matchup for any pass rusher.

He is a dead ringer for Jake Long.
