Junior running back Brennan Clay (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) was just offered by Michigan and San Diego State. Clay also holds offers from Baylor, Wisconsin and Stanford. We've said before but the 2010 class of running backs in California is absolutely loaded and looks like the strongest position in the state by a wide margin at this early point.

He told Sporting News Today that he already has a solid top five. Three of his top five are showing intense interest, but haven't offered the junior a scholarship just yet. He lists Michigan as his No. 5 school, and Stanford as his No. 4. Both have offered. His top three is made up of No. 3 California, No. 2 USC and No. 1 Oregon. He said all three are close to offering.

RB James hauling in big offers - ESPN
Quote:
Oregon offered me and I'm so hyped up on it," Clay said. "Oregon is kind of my dream school and I've always liked the Ducks. They have been my top choice for a while now so to get the offer from them really means a lot.
"I love their offense and I think I'm a perfect fit for what they like to do. I think the depth chart is good for me to come in and play early and I'm going to try and take a visit out there in the summer so I can get a closer look at the program."
Clay said he was so excited by the offer, he gave serious thought to ending the recruiting process.
"Oh yeah, I definitely thought about committing," Clay said. "I talked to my coach though and he said I have plenty of time and not to rush in to anything. I still need to talk to my uncle but I'm sure he'll say he supports me no matter what I choose to do.
"I'm going to try and visit there and I'm still planning to visit Michigan for their spring game next week. I have spring break next week so it will be a good time to go out there and check out Michigan and see my boy Tate Forcier.
"Tate is doing great and I hear he has a chance to start next year. Right now, my top five would be Oregon, Michigan, USC, Cal and Stanford but that all can change so it's a pretty loose top five right now. Oregon is definitely on top though."

Oklahoma Sooner, Michigan Wolverines just two of many top programs chasing RB Brennan Clay - ESPN
Quote:
It's been a busy time for running back Brennan Clay (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch). Aided by an impressive performance at the Los Angeles Nike Football Training Camp in April, interest in the speedy back has risen during the spring evaluation period.
"Recruiting has picked up a ton with all of the coaches coming by the school to check up on me," Clay said. "They can't really talk to me, but they are all trying to get that look at me and get the inside scoop from my coaches. I have been focused on school and running track right now, though."

An Interview With Brennan Clay | mgoblog
Quote:
Brennan Clay is one of the top running back prospects in the country, and happens to be the former teammate of the Wolverines' new quarterback. Clay had expressed his interest in staying out West, but that opinion has recently changed. Not only is Brennan a great football player, he's got his head on straight for his future if football doesn't work out. Take a look at the conversation we recently had.
