Michigan received a verbal committment for the 2009 season from Bastrop, La., defensive end DeQuinta Jones, rivals.com reported. Rivals.com ranks the 6-2, 265-pounder as the No. 14 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 23 strongside defensive end in the country.

In other recruiting news, Michigan has received an early football commitment from DeQuinta Jones of state champion Bastrop.

The 6-foot-2, 265-pound defensive end also considered Alabama and California before picking the Wolverines. As a junior, he had 83 tackles and three sacks for the Rams who were 14-0 and won the 4A state championship. He has 4.8 speed for 40 yards.

From the Michigan site. Jones says the reason his mother didn't know about the verbal right away is because he was on a visit at LSU when he made his choice. He likes the winning tradition at Michigan and has family in Detroit.

Yeah.. TJB on GBW said he was 6-2 270, but he grew to 290 DT size now.
