From TheWolverine...talks about UM offering two weeks ago and talks about why he likes their offense, where he could play both WR and RB. Plans to visit UM this summer and also holds offers from Auburn, Iowa State, UCF, UAB and Florida International.

FloridaFB: Gallon Does It All

Quote:
IN THE HUDDLE has taken you to practice sessions in Brooksville, pre-game workouts in Bonita Springs, and camps and combines from Freeport to the Orlando area where Gallon and his talented teammates believe they can make a run at a 6A state championship.

THE GALLON REPORT
NAME:
Jeremy Gallon
SCHOOL: Apopka
CITY: Apopka
POSITION: Athlete
HEIGHT: 5-9
WEIGHT: 175
40 TIME: 4.5 (Reported)
HEAD COACH: Rick Darlington

SCOUTING GALLON: Having watched more than 50 plays that this gifted football player competed in, you get the feeling that his running skills will fit at the next level. Because he lines up at quarterback, where he does throw the ball well, his ability to drop into the pocket and then take off gives the Blue Darters a weapon that many schools just do not have.

He is most dangerous when he is in open space, and with his outstanding speed and quickness, he finds himself alone quite often. While he is not the type of quarterback who will dazzle you with his arm, he opens up so many impressive avenues with his feet.

Having watched him throw the ball, he is accurate with his short and intermediate passes, but knows his limitations. He doesn't throw long a lot, but that's because the offense he operates doesn't need to stretch the field with the pass when you have speed in the backfield that keeps the ball on the ground, uses clock and scores points.

The coaches we spoke to about his future all feel that he has the speed, durability and overall athletic prowess to be a multi-purpose offensive threat who will also returns punts and kicks and even catch the ball in the slot.

GALLON GREATS: Last season, this versatile football talent rushed for 1,613 yards on 219 carries for 23 touchdowns. He also completed 56 of 88 pass attempts for 1,071 yards and eight touchdowns and no interceptions. After starting at tailback as a sophomore, Gallon was converted to the quarterback position. He was second in the voting for 6A player of the year last year as a junior, behind #1 Miami Northwestern's senior quarterback Jacory Harris.

WHAT THE COLLEGE RECRUITERS ARE SAYING: "This is easily one of the best football players in the region. Having watched him last year, this is truly someone who makes his team go."

HIS BAGS ARE PACKED: When it comes to narrowing down the choices, schools such as UCF, Auburn, Iowa, LSU, Kansas, Iowa St. and Michigan will all be considered.

Apopka quarterback Jeremy Gallon commits to Michigan -- OrlandoSentinel.com

Quote:
Jeremy Gallon, Apopka's option quarterback wizard who can play multiple positions, orally committed to sign with Michigan Thursday afternoon.

Rick Darlington, Apopka's football coach, said the new Wolverines coaching staff headed by Rich Rodriguez sees Gallon as a slot-receiver who can be moved around in formations.

"This is the same staff that had (former North Fort Myers star) Noel Devine at West Virginia last year," Darlington said. "I think that's what they're thinking with Jeremy, to move him around and find different ways to get him the ball. He's a special athlete and he's a great fit for what they're going to do on offense."

Gallon is only 5-9, 165-pounds but is one of Apopka's strongest players. He led the team in six of eight categories and had the third highest point total in school history in the "Super-Darter" test, which measures strength, speed, agility and endurance. His led his team in the power-clean lift and had a 40-yard dash time of 4.38 seconds.

Last fall, Gallon rushed for 1,613 yards and 23 TDs on 219 carries and completed 56 of 88 pass attempts for 1,071 yards and 8 TDs. He also plays running back, receiver, safety and returns kicks, and may also placekick as a senior.

Michigan is easily the highest-profile program that has offered a scholarship to Gallon. That list includes UCF, FIU, and Iowa State, but not Florida, FSU or Miami to this point. Darlington said the offer sheet likely will grow, but he said Gallon's commitment to the Wolverines is solid.

"Now, he can worry about two things, the Apopka Blue Devils and his academics," Darlington said. "All the recruiting stuff can be out of his mind, which I think is a good thing."

Kind of a "hey what omg a commit" type deal that few expected. Small, but I like his highlight tapes and his work in FL 6A. I like the focus Rodriguez is putting on speed, speed and more speed. Soon, Michigan will ALMOST be SEC fast

Sporting News

Quote:
New Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez has been known to pluck some of the best athletes out of Florida. His tenure as the head coach at West Virginia set that tone.

On Friday, Michigan commitment Jeremy Gallon—a slashing speedster out of Apopka (Fla.)—showed why Rodriguez and the Wolverines chased him in the first place.

In just three quarters of varsity play in a preseason kickoff classic against Daytona Beach Seabreeze, Gallon rushed for 304 yards and three touchdowns on just 21 carries. Two of the touchdowns were on runs of 49 yards or more. He started the game at quarterback, but also played running back for the Blue Darters, and flew by and spun away from would-be tacklers all night. He also returned some kicks.

“I don’t want to say too much about (the yardage),” Gallon told Sporting News Today after the game. “It was a good start.”

Gallon said he can’t wait to eventually get up to Ann Arbor, Mich. after committing to the school this summer. He’ll be glued to the television each time his future school plays.

“I have to see what I’m getting into,” Gallon told SN Today. “…so I’ll be watching every week.”

TheWolverine.com - Apopka looking to tame the Tigers (free)

Quote:
The Tigers must contain multi-talented quarterback/running back Jeremy Gallon, who has committed to Michigan as a receiver. Gallon doesn't throw much in Apopka's single-wing offense, but he has rushed for 272 yards and two touchdowns on 42 carries in two games. South Panola's physical advantage should play a role.

Apparently Gallon tore up the morning practice with four or five touchdowns.

Great news for UM fans but it is best to temper expectations after one all-star game practice. Keep in mind most of the East's CBs were yet to arrive...so you had LBs and safeties playing CB for most of the day on Monday. Word is Justin Green and Brandon McGee are already having an impact during their first practice today...and Gallon had a little case of the dropsies this morning but continues to have success when matched up on a safety.

Of course it's early, but still good to hear. Since he's not a highly-rated recruit by either site, it's nice to see he's in the game.

Someone on an other site I frequent said Gallon burned Ohio State DB commit Jaime Wood a couple of times for touchdowns.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - All-American Bowl: East Hot 11

Quote:
5-8/165, Apopka (Fla.) Apopka
The first thing you might notice at the East practice is the size of No. 88. But just ask any of the defensive backs on his team what it is like to trap a small gazelle hopped up on adrenaline. He again was able to get deep because defensive backs can't grasp him off the line of scrimmage. Gallon has also displayed great hands and body control.

Nice....
