Campbell is from the same high school as 2007 LSU signee Joe Barksdale and 2008 Michigan verbal Boubacar Cissoko. Campbell played mainly offensive tackle last season for Cass Tech but will go both ways this year with the departure of Joe Barksdale to D-1 BCS college ball. Campbell showed up to Michigan's summer camp and was verbally offered by Head Coach Lloyd Carr and committed on the spot to become Michigan's first commit of their 2009 class.

Michigan looks pretty good in the future at DT with Relando Sagesse and Marques Slocum (only took him a year and a half to get in, ha!) as part of the '07 class, Mike Martin in the '08 class, and Campbell in '09.

No kidding. Stripling was an fantastic hire for us at DL coach. He completely turned that position group around. As well as he's done, I'm worried about him bolting to the NFL.

Omar Hunter from Georgia should be ours as well.

Anyway, I don't think we have to worry about Strip leaving, he'll stick around as long as he wants, and it seems like he really loves it in Ann Arbor.

I like Campbell's junior film better than Barksdale senior film. Plays with more of a physical edge to his game than Barksadale ever has shown.

I think RR's focus right now is more on 2008 recruits and putting a staff together. He'll get around to talking to '09 kids like Campbell soon enough.

Kids like Campbell are part of the reason why I think Rod is going to abandon the 3-3-5 in Ann Arbor. Campbell is being billed by a lot of people as a potential Top 100 player in the 2009 class.

When is the last time Rich had a stud junior commit from a Top 100 defensive tackle? Rich had to run the 3-3-5 out of necessity, he wasn't exactly swimming in talented defensive lineman.

The highly touted defensive lineman that Michigan has landed over the past 5-6 years alone?

Off the top of my head:
Pat Massey (everybody bashes him as a player and rightfully so, but he was a highly touted recruit out of Ohio)

Pierre Woods (I believe he was a 5* DE recruit out of Glenville)

Shawn Crable (more of a DE/LB hybrid, but he was a 4*, Top 50 player by Rivals)

Gabe Watson (5*)

Alan Branch (4*, Army All-American)

Will Johnson (4*, #2 player in Michigan in his class)

Terrance Taylor (4*, Top 100 by Scout/Rivals/Lemming)

LaMarr Woodley (5*)

Tim Jamison (4*, Top 50 player by Rivals and Scout)
