Quote:
Ash is an offensive tackle that will need to work on the technical part of the game. He looks the part at 6'5" and 270 pounds and carries his weight well. Displays quickness off the ball and has good initial leg drive; needs to keep churning the legs and stay after the defender till the whistle blows. Comes off the ball too high most of the time; legs come together and is often face mask to face mask with the defensive man instead of mask in the frame of the body. Must become a better knee bender and sink his hips. Could be more powerful with the hands. Often times absorbs the defender instead of delivering a punch with the hands; needs to lock on to the defensive lineman. Should do the same on pass protection; accepts the pass rusher instead of violently giving a solid first blow delivery. Fits into double team quickly but is too tall and shoulders aren't always square but does get good movement due to size and leg drive. Cutoff blocking is decent; but should get his head across the defensive man. Demonstrates ability to get to level two but needs to lock on to and sustain downfield blocks. Sometimes takes a false step or oversteps when blocking; loses position on reach block and defender often gets into body. Ash is a big, good looking athlete that needs to play with more consistency. He must use his hands more and play with better leverage. He has decent mobility but needs to continue to work on foot agility.

Tom has offers from Nebraska, Texas Tech, Washington State, TCU and Houston.

“Nebraska spring game was a nice time. It was amazing. It (the game) was a sell out more than 80,000 fans.” said Ash

“I really like the (Nebraska) weight room all of the equipment is spread out. Most college it’s a bunched together. Carl Pelini is recruiting me he’s a good guy.” he said

“TCU is a good school it’s close to home, 45 minute drive.” said Ash, “It’s a private school the classes are not big. TCU is in the process of building new facilities. Right now a meeting room is being built.”

“I’m flying to Washington State with my dad this summer.” he said, “My dad works for American Airlines, so traveling isn’t so bad. I don’t know much about them yet. My coach knows the Washington State coaches and they want me to come up there for a visit. We had a player that went to Washington State four years ago.”

“We (my dad and I) are fling to Michigan in two weeks.” said Ash, “Michigan coach came to our school and invited me to a coaches barbeque May 17. I don’t know if Michigan will offer I hope so.”

When asked if Michigan offers would they be your top school.

“Not really, distance would not be a factor with my dad working for American Airlines.”

“My dad and I drove to Norman (Oklahoma) late February and talked to Coach Patton.” He said, “Coach Patton said he takes his time offering offensive linemen, he wants to get to know them better, wants an OU fit.”

“Most schools are recruiting me as a offensive tackle because I have long arms and I’m spread out.”

“I don’t know if I will make it to any summer camps yet. I plan on making a decision in September or October. I want to make a few visits.”

From the Nebraska site. Committed to Nebraska. Ash says he loved everything about Nebraska from the fans, to the staff and team. Nebraksa has told him he could end up anywhere on the OL.
