OL Quinton Washington (6-4 315) of Timberland has offers from USC, Clemson, Tennessee, NC State, Alabama and Maryland. He also is getting attention from Notre Dame, Nebraska, Miami, LSU and Oklahoma. He attended NC State's junior day this past weekend. He's been invited to Clemson this Saturday but does not think he'll be able to make it. He attended USC's junior day last month. He's open on all the schools including the Gamecocks and Tigers. "I like everything about them," he said of the in-state rivals. "I'm comfortable at both places." Washington impressed the scouts at the US Army All American Combine in January when he earned first team all combine honors. "He has very quick feet and very good technique," said Timberland assistant coach Chris Pond. "He's very good with his hands and he's very strong." Washington also plays defensive tackle.

Offensive lineman looking for a place to call home : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com

Quinton Washington knows what he will look for when he begins sifting through his list of schools.
The 6-foot-3, 315-pound offensive lineman from Timberland High School in St. Stephen, S.C., has received scholarship offers from seven schools: Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, North Carolina State, Clemson, Maryland and Miami.
Washington said he hasn’t begun researching the schools recruiting him, but he knows what they’ll need to offer.
“I’ll look for a place where I can get my degree and get a good education and have a great social life,” he said. “A place where I can have a good time and feel like I’m home.”
Feeling like he’s home will be a key.
Washington said the school he chooses will need to have a good chemistry between its coaching staff and players.
“That’s real important,” he said. “It’s got to be a place I can feel comfortable.”
Timberland head coach Art Craig believes Washington will feel comfortable on the field at any school he chooses.
Craig said Washington’s athleticism will help him adjust quickly to the college game.
“His feet are unbelievable for a guy his size,” Craig said. “He can reach you, he can down you, he can pull and go get somebody. He has unlimited potential.”
Craig said Washington, who plays offensive tackle at Timberland, projects to play guard in college.
If offense doesn’t work, Craig said Washington could move to defensive tackle.
“That’s what makes him remarkable too,” Craig said. “He’s very coachable. He’s willing to change if it means getting better.”
Craig praised Washington’s work ethic and efforts to get better.
Washington said he’s motivated to improve so he can provide a better future for his parents.
“They mean a whole lot to me,” he said. “They have to work so hard.
“I just want to make it. I want to make it better for my parents so I can give back to my parents someday.”

Five schools have moved to the front with OL Quinton Washington (6-4 315) of Timberland according to his coach Art Craig. USC, Clemson, Tennessee, Alabama and Miami are the favored five according to Craig who added that Michigan is trying hard to break into the group. "From a national standpoint, Michigan said he was the #1 lineman they are going to go after," Craig said. Coaches from USC, Clemson, NC State, North Carolina, Maryland, Michigan and Alabama were thru school this spring. Craig said Washington doesn't have a favorite. "The five he mentioned are all quality programs," Craig said. "He wants to see them. He may surprise me and commit early but I don't think it's going to happen. He wants to take his visits." Craig said Washington will be moved from tackle to guard this season, and he's being recruited as a guard. He has offers from each of his favorites along with Michigan, Maryland and NC State. He's also drawing interest from Notre Dame, Nebraska, LSU and Oklahoma.

OL Quinton Washington (6-4 315) of Timberland made an official visit to Michigan last weekend, and the trip gave him something to think about according to his coach who joined him on the visit. "People in the stands were chanting Quinton's name," coach Art Craig said. "Q, wear the blue, wear the blue. And it wasn't rehearsed. I've got to give coach Rodriguez and his staff a hand. They did a job. They were genuine with what they wanted. To my understanding, he's their number one lineman they are going after in the nation. That's point blank what coach Rodriguez told me Friday night." Craig said Washington took everything in and was very impressed. "He felt very at ease with them," he said. "He was very impressed with the facilities. They are building a second indoor facility. They are adding 100 skyboxes. They just opened a new academic learning center. He's a man of few words. When I asked him if they are in there with him, he said, coach, how can they not be?" Washington has not scheduled any other official visits but Craig said USC and Clemson each will get one. He's made unofficial visits to both in state schools. Craig said Alabama, Tennessee and Miami are being considered for the remaining official visits. Washington might take an unofficial visit to Tennessee this weekend. Tennessee is showing interest in junior QB Cody Craigh, the coach's son.

Michigan will continue to push for Under Armour All-American offensive lineman Quinton Washington (Saint Stephen, S.C./Timberland) today when head coach Rich Rodriguez visits the 6-foot-3, 315-pounder at his school and also does an in-home visit. Washington visited Ann Arbor during the season and the Wolverines remain in the mix along with South Carolina and Clemson, where he visited the last two weekends, Tennessee, where he visits this coming weekend and Miami, where he visits the weekend of Jan. 30.
Washington will make an announcement on or close to Feb. 4, which is national signing day.

I'd guess he's staying down South.

OL Quinton Washington (6-4 315) of Timberland has eliminated two schools from consideration leaving him with a final three according to his coach Art Craig. Washington has cut Clemson and Tennessee and will make his decision from USC, Michigan and Miami. USC and Michigan are the top two but he will visit Miami this weekend. "He did talk to coach Spurrier on the phone today," Craig said Thursday afternoon. Spurrier had his in person visit with Washington and his parents Wednesday. "It seemed to go well," Craig said. "They talked here at school and he met his mom and dad. Everything seemed to be positive. Michigan and South Carolina have done an outstanding job recruiting him. I wouldn't want to be him right now." Craig said he and Washington will sit down Monday and try to hammer out a final decision. "He's trying to look at things other than football," Craig said. "He's trying to set himself up for the rest of his life."

Under Armour All-American offensive guard Quinton Washington (Saint Stephen, S.C./Timberland) has eliminated Clemson and Tennessee and now will decide between South Carolina, Michigan and Miami (Fla.).
The in-state Gamecocks are believed to be the team to beat. Head coach Steve Spurrier made an in-home visit with Washington earlier this week. That visit went well. New South Carolina offensive line coach Eric Wolford, who came to the Gamecocks from Illinois with a reputation as an outstanding recruiter, also has met with Washington and those meetings reportedly went very well.
Michigan is thought to be the main contender and the only team at this point that has a shot at overtaking South Carolina. Washington likes the Wolverines program as a whole and also some of the academic opportunities the school offers, but proximity is a concern.
Washington plans to make an official visit to Miami this coming weekend. The Hurricanes are a longshot, though they have had success on their "final weekend" recruiting visits in the past. Washington previously visited Michigan, Tennessee, South Carolina and Clemson.

Washington likely heading to Michigan
Tuesday, February 3, 2009 | Print Entry
Posted by JC Shurburtt
Barring a last second change of hear, Under Armour All-American offensive lineman Quinton Washington (Saint Stephen,S.C./Timberland) will sign with Michigan on Wednesday. The Wolverines are the choice ahead of South Carolina and Miami.
According to sources, Michigan sold Washington and his family on the number of linemen they put in the NFL and also on various programs that the university offers.
The in-state Gamecocks were considered the strong favorites throughout but sources indicate that an in-home visit with Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez sold Washington on playing football in the Big Ten.
