Very close to commitment
Fred Smith is very, very close to commiting to MSU. Not only does he want to play football for MSU, but also basketball (per prepspotlight). Tom Izzo has joined the recruitment for this 4 star WR. Guys, expect him to come to MSU .

Smith got serious about making an early college decision weeks ago…and with the season drawing closer by the day his eagerness to get it out of the way is growing. The Michigan State Spartans made a strong pitch at the talented athlete late last month, aided in large part by the assistance of Tom Izzo.
"He told me that if I decided to come there it wouldn't be nothing for me to, after football, season come out for the basketball team," recalled Smith. He said that I would have a jersey in the locker."

I think Fred Smith can possibly be MSU's next commit... Who can say no to Mark Dantonio, AND Tom Izzo? If he comes here, MSU is on the verge of getting a very talented group of WR's, in him and Corey Johnson.

Scout.com: One last Visit for Fred Smith
Smith is taking one last visit to Michigan, and shortly after that (around a week) he will announce where he will be playing college ball. MSU fans shouldnt fear for him taking his last visit to UM, because he is only doing it because his parents wanted to go with him (they all have already gone to MSU, and loved it). I still feel real good about Smith to MSU.

Actually it is today. He will be stopping at Michigan for most of the day, and might make a side trip to East Lansing. It is doubtful he will make it to EL, but he is probably already in Ann Arbor.

He is also going up there with his mom, but they are not going to talk to Lloyd Carr, instead just meeting UM's wide reciever coach. It's always good to get a prospect to go to your campus/facilities, but when you head coach isnt involved, it isnt that good.

Not exactly on the dot, but probably sometime late July, early August. It could be even a little earlier than that, but I doubt it.

Well I heard that "Mr Personality" Lloyd Carr was not in AA today so maybe that helped.
