Detroit Southeastern receiver Fred Smith and defensive back Charles Burrell were all smiles watching the first game under new MSU coach Mark Dantonio.

"I definitely saw physical football today," said Burrell, who is 6-1, 205 pounds. "There were 11 hats to the ball every time.
