I have heard from numerous sources that it's really 50/50 on which school he will attend (MSU or UM). Although I know you have some certain sources that have been telling you otherwise.

I'd say it is probably around a 60/40 percent chance, with the advantage to MSU. I guess it could go either way, but I'd still bet on MSU.

I am hearing it's all UM right now, and he just pushed his announcement date back a couple of months which is not good for the previous leader, in this case MSU.

YUes, no more flaming. But it could go either way for Smith IMO. I still would like to think MSU is his leader, but I havent heard anything about him since his visit. I just dont see him committing right after Stonum did, and on top of that play time right away favors him going to MSU...Then again he might want to go to a winning program in Michigan?

sorry if I came across as flaming, but gods honest truth I was just stating the good news I heard. Let me just say that I'll be very surprised if Fred Smith doesn't go to UM.

As for where Rivals and Scout have him ranked, I think they both have him under-ranked. I think he's a Top 100 player, and one of the top 3 players in the state along with Cissoko and O'Neil.

Interesting then that he chose to attend MSU's elite camp that began yesterday and continues through tommorow. Maybe he and Jonas Gray will get a couple of chances to chat about their college choice(s).

it sounds like everyone around him wants him to go to MSU execpt for Fred. Maybe he's at MSU today to convince himself.

Actually I an older article about him (in USA Today) indicated that his Mom had been telling him (since 7th grade) that he should go to um. Since that article was published (months ago) he was quoted on one or more recruiting sites saying that MSU leads.

Following that article's publication date he visited MSU with 6-7 family members and rumors started swirling imediately after that that he was on the verge of committing.

Then a week ago he visited um with his family, saying that they (MOM) had not been there before. Then rumors started that he was um bound.

Now one week later he has chosen to attend MSU's elite camp with his HS teammate Charles Burrell (MSU commit) and their HS coach. So it looks to me like HE does like MSU and at least one person around him -- his Mom -- like(d)(s) um a little more. I'd be interested in his (and her) thoughts on the recruiting situation a few days after his most recent visit to EL ends (to let the dust settle a little).
