Evans has both speed and quickness as a boundary corner and strong safety. He doesn't look as big as his dimemsions indicate but is very athletic at both positions. A very good athlete that has excellent agility and flexibility. Good football instincts and can change direction without losing speed or body control. Active player in the openfield who takes proper support and pursuit angles. Demonstrates an aggressive blitz attitude and has great timing when coming off the football from the edge. Displays catch up speed and appears to have the ability to lock on and run with a receiver man to man. Needs to work on openfield tackling; doesn't always bring his legs with him and tackle up through the ball carrrier. Evans is a very solid athlete with good ball skills that is probably suited to the corner position especially as a lock down defensive back.

One final Florida note: If you're looking for the most intriguing potential Gators commitment this year, look no further than Irvington (N.J.) High athlete Joshua Evans. He took an unofficial visit to Gainesville just before the start of the season and the staff is high on Evans as a big cornerback (he's 6-2, 185). Last year, the Gators went to New Jersey to sign five-star athlete Will Hill. While Evans isn't as highly rated or as heavily recruited as Hill, sources say the staff is equally excited about his potential.

STRENGTHS: Evans is a long and rangy athlete who has started to fill out his frame. With his added size he is not afraid to get in the middle of the action, and he showed an impressive nose for the ball. He has the hips to play cornerback at the next level, a rarity for a player his size.
