As the off-spring of football royalty Taylor will likely have some big shoes to try and fill throughout his college career. While he has a tough standard to try and live up to, on his own merit this kid has some good potential. If allowed to be his own player he will flash some good tools and upside to be a good college defensive tackle. He looks to lack ideal height, but is a thickly built kid that looks on film to have a big lower body. He displays good quickness off the ball and good strength. He gets solid placement with his hands. He is a physical player at the point of attack that is usually able to push his opponent back. He does not display the ability to quickly navigate around a block, but more of a kid that tries to work through a blocker. Needs to create more separation, but displays the strength to physically shed a blocker when he gets hand leverage. He will flash the ability to explode out of his stance and on contact generate power from his lower body. When he does that he can put a blocker on his heels. He may not get a lot of penetration, but can knock a blocker back and cause a bubble. He runs well, but displays adequate short-area change-of-direction skills and needs to play with more consistent pad level. He has adequate recognition skills. For a big man he gives solid effort in pursuit and takes solid angles. He is a solid wrap-up tackler. As a pass rusher he can collapse the pocket with a bull rush. Does not display a lot in the way of pass rush moves, but will use his hand some to try and separate while driving his opponent back. Taylor flashes some good ability and upside. Needs to keep developing his game and we would not be shocked if someone tried to make him a guard along the way.

Defensive lineman Brandon Taylor, son of Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor, shares the opinion. Taylor, a 6-2, 280-pounder, was wearing a North Carolina T-shirt Monday (his father played for UNC). But he says he'll be keeping an open mind during the recruiting process. Hudson said Taylor doesn't have any written offers yet but is being scouted closely by Ohio State, LSU and Florida.

NAME: Brandon Taylor
SCHOOL: Dr. Michael Krop
CITY: Ives Estates
POSITION: DL
HEIGHT: 6-0
WEIGHT: 290
40 TIME: 5.0 (Reported)
HEAD COACH: Rick Divita

SCOUTING TAYLOR: Having watched players in the past such as Louis Gachelin (6-0, 284) and Elvis Dumervil (5-11, 260), both Miamians, Taylor is out of the same mold, and proved it this spring and into the summer by dominating in practice, scrimmages and in games.

Quick off the ball, has tremendous instincts and the strength to initiate and finish plays like very few around today.

As he matures and becomes a total football player this coming season, there is little doubt that he will be one of the most sought after defensive linemen in the country.

If you have the pleasure of watching this young man, you will leave with the feeling that he is one of the rising stars of high school football in the state of Florida.

TAYLOR TIDBITS:
While his sophomore year saw him make major strides, the past eight months have watched him turn into an elite player. With teammates Etienne Sabino, Travis Howard and fellow junior Quan Fletcher receiving plenty of attention, it has pushed Taylor into the spotlight.

Taylor’s coach, Rick Divita knows a little about top-flight players. While at Miami Beach High, Divita coached Chad Johnson, Samari Rolle, Terry Cousins, Duane Starks as well as FSU standouts Antoine Mirambeau and Ray Piquion.

WHAT THE COLLEGES RECRUITERS ARE SAYING: "I have watched players such as Warren Sapp compete at the collegiate level, and Brandon has the chance to be much like him. His strength, football knowledge and athletic ability give him a huge advantage."

HIS BAGS ARE PACKED: While it’s early, you have to figure that head coach Butch Davis and North Carolina will be given plenty of consideration with dad being the best linebacker the school has ever produced. Other schools are already watching since we exposed him back in February!
