Henry County's Teague offered by UT : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com
Quote:
Athlete Marsalis Teague from Henry County High School in Paris, Tenn., received a scholarship offer from Tennessee on Monday.
Teague’s teammate, fullback Dominique Allen, committed to the Vols on April 19.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Teague said he was happy to hear UT tight ends coach Jason Michael extend the scholarship offer.
“I really didn’t know what to say,” Teague said. “I was kind of at a loss for words. I told (Michael) thank you and said I still have to think through everything and do what’s best for me.”
Teague has plenty of options to consider. He has scholarship offers from Miami, Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and Memphis.
Teague said he plans to visit as many schools as possible this summer.
He said he hopes to choose a school before his senior season begins, but he wants to be certain before he makes a commitment.
“Even if I feel like I’m not completely sure I won’t make a decision,” he said. “I’ll prolong it until I know I’m 100 percent sure what I want to do.
“This is a big decision. I can’t have doubts about where I want to go.”
Teague has no doubts about where people in his community want him to go.
With Allen already committed to UT, Teague said many will expect him to follow his friend to Knoxville.
Teague said UT may eventually be his choice, but he doesn’t want to rush his decision.
“There are a lot of options out there with different schools that have different things to offer,” he said. “I have to be open minded to see what the schools have to offer. If I do feel like Tennessee is the right place that’s where I’ll be.”

ATH Marsalis Teague (5-11 170) of Paris, TN remains a Clemson target as a cornerback. Secondary coach and defensive coordinator Vic Koenning was by the school last week, and he's also been talking with his recruiter Dabo Swinney. "Coach Koenning is very interested in me," Teague said. He has offers from Clemson, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Miami, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Memphis, Ole Miss and Duke. He's also hearing from Auburn. This summer, Teague said he'll try to visit Clemson, Miami, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. "I want to see as many schools as I can so I can make a decision, hopefully, by the end of the summer," Teauge said. He does not have favorites.

News Sentinel Top 10 in Tennessee, No. 4: Marsalis Teague of Henry County : Football : GoVolsXtra.com
Quote:
Dominique Allen and Marsalis Teague are learning as much through their very different recruiting travails.
Allen, a 5-foot-11, 235-pound fullback, committed to Tennessee in April.
Teague, a versatile 5-10, 175-pound athlete, is no where close to announcing his decision as he continues to evaluate several schools.
"Right now, I haven't narrowed the field down," said Teague, who is the News Sentinel's fourth-best prospect in the state. "Just kind of cruising along, just trying to see who's out there. Then I'll make a decision."
The difference in their recruiting journeys is the only difference between them. The two prospects from Henry County High School in Paris are close, lifelong friends.
"Marsalis and I have known each other all our lives," Allen said. "We're brothers. I love Marsalis to death. Throughout this recruiting process, we've talked about life choices and life decisions.
"We look out for each other."
That's a sentiment not lost on Tennessee's coaches, who would love to land the Paris pair for their 2009 class. However, both readily admit that there's no package deal in the works.
"It would be really cool if we did go to school together," Teague said. "But, then again, I have to do what's best for me. Only I can make that decision for me."
Said Allen, "He's really considering Tennessee as one of the top choices. Marsalis is looking for the school that's best for him. I'm not trying to make him come to Tennessee. I want him to choose what's best for him."
Teague's best will come from a list of strong candidates. UT, Miami, Clemson, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt have been showing the most interest.
Teague visited Georgia Tech, Miami, Clemson, Vanderbilt and Georgia this summer, yet there is no timetable to make a decision. Official visits this fall seem likely before any announcement is made.
"I'm trying to see all the schools before I make my decision," he said.
Teague could play receiver or defensive back in college, as evident by his gaudy stats last season. Teague ran for 1,639 yards and 16 touchdowns on 151 carries and threw for 1,355 yards and 17 touchdowns with a 60-percent completion percentage while playing quarterback.
Defensively, Teague forced two fumbles and intercepted three passes even as teams threw away from the star cornerback.
"On the field," Allen said, "he can do things most people can't do."
Allen should know, considering how inseparable the two athletes have become. When Teague returns from a visit to a prospective college, Allen is the first person Teague will call with a full report.
The two are in the process of planning a trip to Knoxville in the next few weeks. Allen will be much more than just an interested observer.
"No doubt," Allen said, "I would love for us to play together in college."

From the Duke site. Teague hasn't started to narrow down his list, but says that academics will play a major role in his choice. He feels that if you are good enough you will get drafted, no matter what school you play for. He doesn't plan to decide any time soon.

"I grew up following Miami," Marsalis Teague said. "I just loved their aggressiveness, especially on defense. When I was watching them they had a star-studded team." Teague says the 'Canes are recruiting him for cornerback. "I like coach Randy Shannon and he seems like a real down-to-earth guy and real humble. He seems like a guy who'll talk with you about anything..."

From the PrepTennessee site. Florida has offered. Teague wouldn't say Miami is his leader, rather that the have an edge being his childhood favorite. Florida, Miami and Clemson will probably get official visits.
