By A. Bone. Kirkpatrick talks about his visit to Alabama and says he had a great time. He says that the atmposphere was much better than the LSU vs Florida game, and that he had a good time joking around with the coaches. He will take an unofficial visit to Auburn next.

As the top professional football prospects in the country arrive in Mobile for next weekend's Under Armour Senior Bowl, many of Southeast's hottest college prospects in the Class of 2009 will be at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Sunday for the Under Armour/scout.com Combine.
The invitation-only combine, which opens at noon and will continue until 4 p.m., will feature more than 150 current high school juniors who are projected to be among the top prospects in the Southeast in 2009. The public is invited to attend and there is no admission fee.
Several local players are among those scheduled to participate, including St. Paul's quarterback AJ McCarron, Foley defensive lineman D.J. Fluker, Blount linebacker Jonathan Evans, Williamson defensive lineman Terrance Coleman, Daphne running back Le'Andre Walton and Vigor running back Ken Houston.
Also expected to be here is the top prospect in the state for 2009, Gadsden City defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick, who is rated as the No. 1 defensive back prospect in the country for 2009 by scout.com.
"It's basically going to be a who's who for the state of Alabama," said scout.com's Andrew Bone, who added that players are expected from six states. "It's a good way to see what these kids can do. ... They get a ton of reps and they're going up against major Division I talent."
The combine, in Mobile for the first time, will include not only the typical timing in the 40-yard dash and measurements in height and weight, broad jump and vertical jump, but also position drills and 1-on-1 competition, Bone said.
Local coaches such as Davidson's Fred Riley, Daphne's Glenn Vickery and Foley's Todd Watson will help lead the camp, along with national coaches brought in by scout.com.
"For our kids to be able to do this, they would have (normally) had to go to Atlanta," said Riley, who will have six Warriors participating. "So we're very excited about it being here."
The combine is one of several done by scout.com around the country, and Bone said he hopes it will become an annual event in Mobile.
"Mobile is just rich in talent every single year and I don't think it gets as much exposure," he said. "Hopefully, we're going to be running one every single year."

DB Dre Kirkpatrick (6-3 185) of Gadsden City, AL has 40 offers, including Clemson and USC, and he has not trimmed that list. But he has decided on some spring games he will take in over the next several weeks. Kirkpatrick will go to Auburn this weekend, Georgia April 5th, Alabama April 12th, and he said he probably will go to Tennessee's game. "I'm not thinking that much about recruiting," Kirkpatrick said. "I want to go where I can get playing time. I don't have a favorite. Texas is recruiting me the hardest." Kirkpatrick has been to practices and junior days at Alabama and Auburn. Some of his other offers are Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, Southern Cal, Miami, LSU, West Virginia and Oklahoma. Kirkpatrick said he's getting a lot of mail from Clemson and USC. He does not plan an early decision.
