U of L has also made offers to a pair of the top football prospects from the state of Kentucky - seniors-to-be Ridge Wilson (photo) and Shenard Holton. Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound linebacker from Louisville Central, told me he picked up an offer from U of L and is expecting one soon from Cincinnati. He had previously been offered by Kentucky, Arkansas and Indiana. Holton, a 6-foot, 190-pound running back/strong safety at Warren East, also has offers from Miami of Ohio, Central Michigan, Ball State and Eastern Kentucky. Tennessee, Purdue, Kentucky and Auburn have also been showing interest.

Talked with Warren East High School standout football player Shenard Holton tonight to get an update on his recruiting process.
The 6-foot, 195-pound running back/linebacker already has offers from Louisville, Miami of Ohio, Central Michigan, Ball State and Western Kentucky.
"I'm just going to take all of my visits and see," Holton said. "I want to look around and see what school is the best fit for me."
Holton, who had over 1,400 all-purpose yards and 117 tackles as a junior, said two of his visits will be U of L and Miami.

Warren East's Holton picks Cards | courier-journal | The Courier-Journal

The University of Louisville football team has picked up a commitment from one of the top prospects in Kentucky.
Warren East High School running back/safety Shenard Holton decided to end the recruiting process and give the Cardinals' coaching staff their third commitment for the Class of 2009.
"I just decided it's a nice place for me to fit in," Holton said. "I am excited, and I really liked the coaches when I came there for camp. And they liked what they saw. It feels good because I know where I am going and can now focus on getting better and my senior season."
The 6-foot 190-pounder, who has been timed in 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, also had scholarship offers from Western Kentucky, Central Michigan, Ball State, Miami of Ohio, Eastern Kentucky and Illinois State. He was being recruited by Kentucky, Boise State, Purdue and Auburn.
As a junior Holton had 116 tackles, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries on defense. On offense he rushed 115 times for 712 yards and 13 touchdowns and had 23 catches for 566 yards and six TDs. He'll probably play safety in college.
"U of L is getting a hard-hitting, charismatic young man who possesses intangible instincts for the game of football," Warren East coach Ben Bruni said. "He is highly aggressive, physical and plays the game with a nasty streak."
