Petey discusses missing much of the season due to injury and says he would like to stay somewhat close to home, but tOSU is not too far for him. The Buckeyes were the first team to officially offer but he is also very high on Miami

Standout linebacker Petey Smith and defensive lineman Ryne Giddins each have collected more offers than Callahan can count. The list of schools reads like a who’s who of college football programs - with the likes of Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State and Tennessee all in the mix. But those aren’t the only juniors who are getting looks.
Callahan also noted there has been increased interest in quarterback Mywan Jackson, safety Angelo Hadley and linebacker Casey Callahan, the coach’s son. All are being looked at by various Division I programs, Callahan said.

From the Clemson site. Coaches from Clemson were in to see Smith today, who says he has offers from about everyone. He says that even though his brother is at Auburn, he will make his own decision.

Prep Report - Hillsborough Sports - from TBO.com Blogs
Quote:
Armwood running back Eric Smith officially became an Auburn Tiger this morning when he signed his National Letter-of-Intent during a signing ceremony at Armwood.
Most of Smith’s family was sporting Auburn University apparel, including his younger brother Petey, a standout junior linebacker with the Hawks who is expected to be one of the nation’s top recruits next season.
So, of course, Petey knew the question was coming, considering the attire he chose Wednesday: just how interested is he in joining his brother when his high school career his over?
“It’s a possibility,” he said.
Petey Smith said Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville was at Armwood’s campus within the last few weeks and extended an offer to him, as well as an offer to junior defensive back Angelo Hadley and junior defensive lineman Ryne Giddins. It is one of many offers Smith has collected from a major Division I program.
Petey Smith said the trio of Hawks standout junior defensive players have at least discussed the possibility of heading to Auburn together. How serious they were in those discussions remains to be seen.
However, Petey should at least expect his recruitment to Auburn to pick up very soon - but not from coaches at the Southeastern Conference school.
“Oh, I’m going to be talking to him,” brother Eric said with a smile. “I know it’s going to be his decision where he’ll end up going, but I’d love it if he ended up at Auburn with me.”

Alabama Linebacker Has USC & Clemson Offers
By Phil Kornblut
LB Petey Smith (6-0 240) of Seffner, FL is a heavily recruited prospect with close to 50 offers thus far including USC and Clemson. Some of the other offers are Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Miami, Auburn and Florida. Smith said he's getting a lot of mail from USC but hasn't yet talked to any coaches. He has talked with Clemson recruiter Chris Rumph who got to know him while recruiting his brother, RB Eric Smith, who signed with Auburn. "I visited Clemson with my brother on his official visit," Smith said. "I have a good relationship with coach Rumph. I'm supposed to go to Clemson for summer camp but I don't know if I'll be able to do it." Smith has been to Florida, Florida State and Central Florida for junior day. He does not have a favorite right now. "Around the end of spring football I'll sit down with my parents and try to pick out five to seven schools to look at real close." Smith missed eight games last season with an abdominal injury. He still managed 80 tackles with three sacks.

LB Petey Smith (6-0 240) of Seffner, FL says Auburn is slightly out in front for him right now "because my brother is going there. Auburn is recruiting me the hardest. They are sending mail non-stop like crazy from different coaches letting me know they are thinking about me a whole bunch." Smith has over 50 offers including Clemson. He said he's getting a lot of mail from the Tigers but hasn't talked to recruiter Chris Rumph lately, though Rumph knows him well from recruiting his brother. Smith plans to trim his list to about five or seven schools early in the summer. He plans to visit North Carolina and Ohio State, and he hopes to visit Southern Cal and Oregon this summer. And he plans to camp at Auburn and attend Florida's Friday Night Lights.

From the Auburn site. Smith is down to Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Penn State and Virginia Tech. Auburn holds a comfortable lead due to the fact that his brother plays there and he knows the coaches well. He expects to decide sometime this fall.
