I'm told Pitt football coach Dave Wannstedt was in town a couple of weeks ago to keep in contact with Wilson QB Tyler Smith, who had attended the Panthers' quarterback camp.
With his size and powerful arm, Smith will certainly be one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in Pennsylvania next fall. It isn't surprising because Wannstedt likes to recruit in Eastern Pennsylvania. For example, Easton's Jarred Holley. The Sun Bowl certainly wouldn't have ended 3-0 with Tyler at the controls.
From the Pitt site...Pitt offered last week...has visited Connecticut, Maryland and Pitt...talks about his contact with the Pitt staff and thinks Maryland is close to offering.
From the UConn site...Pitt and UConn have offered and Maryland could be close to offering...also getting looks from Bowling Green, Illinois, Penn State, Rutgers and Virginia...talks about his interest in the Huskies.
