For a kid who played his first game of tackle football as a freshman at Lane, Louis Trinca-Passat is turning out to be quite a find.
As a freshman, he was good enough to make the sophomore team that won the city title. Now a 6-3, 235-pound junior, he was selected to the Sun-Times All-Public League team as a defensive end and as a two-way starter for the Indians. He also plays tight end and leads the team in tackles, sacks and touchdown receptions.
Trinca-Passat & Co. will get a chance Friday to win the 75th annual Prep Bowl.
‘"This is a memory of a lifetime, to be part of history and to bring home a championship that Lane has not won since 1959,"
Trinca-Passat said. "And what kid from Chicago growing up playing football does not think about what it would be like to play at Soldier Field? We have earned that opportunity."
Along with his athletic ability, Trinca-Passat's 4.3 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale makes him an appealing college prospect. Illinois, Northwestern and Kentucky have him high on their lists.
"We have a great group of kids that are a pleasure to work with, and Passat is one of the reasons we are successful," Lane coach Rich Rio said.
