OT/NG Nick Demien picked up his first major offer on Friday from Big 10 school Iowa. The offer came as a pleasent suprise for Demien.

" I was in PE class and Coach Collins came over and told me that I just received my first offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes."said Demien. " He told me he would fill me in on the details later and when we finally spoke about it he informed me that something official would be coming in the mail. He also told me how they spoke about me making my ACT test scores and stuff like that." Demien looks like he could be the top OL prospect in the state for 2010 and among the top 10 players overall for that class. He is a two year starter and has paved the way for RB Montee Ball who ran for over 3,000 yards last year and is well over 1,000 already this year. Asked if he knew that Iowa was interested and recruiting him enough to offer early Demien said Iowa had been sending letters but he did not know they were serious enough to offer this early. " I have been getting mail from them, probably them and Wisconsin have sent the most mail, but I haven`t been thinking about recruiting or any schools offering me this early. Coach Collins has told me that I had a chance to be a prospect if I work hard and cotninue to do what I am doing, but you never really know, so this is cool and means a lot and makes me want to work even harder." Iowa and Wisconsin aren`t the only teams sending mail and have the attention of Demien`s talents. " I get mail from most of the surrounding state schools. Illinois,Oklahoma,Kansas,Iowa St.,K-ansas St. with probably Wisconsin being the school furthest away. I also get some stuff from Missouri and just went to the game this past weekend against Oklahoma St." I had heard that Missouri was a favorite of Demien`s and asked about it and his visit to Columbia. " The outcome of the game was disapointing, but everything else was great. I got a chance to see some of the facilities and the locker rooma. I really watched the offense and the offensive line and tried to imagine myself in it and if I would like playing in it. I think I would fit in well with it given my skills." "I have grown up watching Mizzou being from here. The program has gotten a lot better and they are among the top teams in the country now. I also went to their one day camp at Lindenwood over the summer. The coaches all seem nice and it is a school I am definately considering should they offer." Demien did have an impressive camp with Mizzou running a 5.0 flat forty time. However, at this point he is wide open and going to take everything in before narrowing a list of schools. " I am going to just wait and see who all offers me and then go from there. It`s all still really new and I am going to take my time and just worry about the rest of the season since districts start this weekend against Washington." Demien said he would like to play either offensive tackle position in college but feels confortable at LT being left handed. He also lists his strengths as his footwork and quickness which he attributes to wrestling. " I am pretty fast in short bursts and have worked on my footwork and qucikness alot. I know I need to get stronger on the college level but I keep working on that."

Demien`s Visit Results In Second Offer - www.showmesportsonline.com

Timberland OT Nick Demien 6`6" 290 had to cut his junior day visit to Missouri short due to a school dance being held Saturday night, but it did not take long for him to enjoy the visit and feel welcomed by the Tigers.
"When I arrived the first person I ran into was Coach Pinekl and he is a great guy. Things went really fast and I was informed that I had an offer almost right away after I got there."said Demien. "Me and my family got to look around a little bit and I got to meet a lot of coaches including Coach Walker. I did not stay for the basketball game but the whole experience was great and I was really happy to get the offer from my home state school that I have liked and followed for a long time."
On how he feels about the Tigers and if there was a time frame for a possible commit to a school?
" It`s really early and I am going to keep an open mind and listen to every school and see what they have to say and who might offer. Iowa has already offered me and I go to their junior day on March 7th. So we`ll see what happens, but the Tigers will be in the mix.. "
Demien projects to play left tackle in college.
