WR Lance Ray (6-3 200) of Havana, FL says USC and Arkansas are his current favorites. Ray said he talks regularly with Gamecock recruiter Shane Beamer. "We're just getting to know each other better," Ray said. "South Carolina and Arkansas are my top choices right now. It's because of the coaches, especially the receivers coach at both schools." Ray also has offers from East Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Duke, Florida International, Central Florida and Iowa State. He also is hearing from LSU, Florida State, Florida, Georgia Tech and South Florida. Ray attended a junior day at LSU. Last season he attended games at Florida State, Florida, Central Florida and Georgia Tech. Ray can play tight end and receiver. He also plays defensive end. He was all conference, all county and all district last season.

USC In Strong Shape With Ray

USC recruiter Shane Beamer visited Havana, FL Monday to check on on WR Lance Ray (6-3 200). "He talked to my coach and told him to remind me about being a Gamecock," Ray said. "And then he watched me pretty closely at practice." Ray said recruiters from Marshall, Central Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss and Auburn also have been by his school, and Arkansas will be in Thursday. He has offers from USC, Arkansas, Iowa State, Mississippi State, East Carolina, Duke, Florida International, Ole Miss and Central Florida. He's also getting interest from Vanderbilt and Kentucky. Ray said USC and Arkansas are his top two right now.

USC has some work to do to win over WR Lance Ray (6-3 190) of Havana, FL. The Gamecocks have been a player with Ray for several months, but it's Florida that has moved to the top of his list, even though the Gators have yet to offer. "I believe once they see me in action, they will offer," said Ray who will attend a Florida camp this month. "I probably won't commit, but they would be my number one school. It's a great school and it's only two hours from home." Ray said LSU is his current #2 team. The Tigers have not yet offered, either. USC has offered and remains in touch. "I talk regulary with coach Beamer," Ray said. He's invited me to a camp there but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it." Beamer visited Ray's school last month. Ray said he also will go to camps at Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Duke and South Florida.

ESPN 150 Watch List prospect Lance Ray told affiliate Web site TheBigSpur.com that Florida and LSU are atop his list. However, neither school has offered.

Ray said, "My top three of the ones that have offered is South Carolina, Arkansas and Mississippi."
